What is the aim of the ITI Education Weeks?

ITI Education Weeks aim at enhancing implant education worldwide through an international network of selected educational institutions.

What kind of information is available in in the Consensus Database?

The Consensus Database contains all currently relevant and valid Consensus Statements and Clinical Recommendations from past ITI Consensus Conferences.

What is an ITI Consensus Conference?

ITI Consensus Conferences take place every 5 years. Preceded by extensive literature research, focus groups of experienced ITI Fellows come together to discuss and agree on the current scientific evidence that forms the basis for the Consensus Statements.

What are Consensus Statements?

All Consensus Statements are concise summaries of the current evidence about various topics relevant to implant dentistry. The evidence is produced based on a comprehensive investigation of the literature available and expert group consensus.

What are the search strategies employed to identify the relevant evidence?

A systematic and comprehensive search of the literature is conducted. Electronic databases are searched using key terms. Relevant journals are hand-searched to identify additional articles. Additionally, the bibliographies of selected papers and published review articles on the topic are also scanned for relevant publications.

What are the selection criteria for scientific evidence?

All levels of evidence except for expert opinion are considered to provide a comprehensive search of the literature. Screening of the records is performed independently by the authors of each review paper. Any disagreement between the reviewers is resolved by discussion.

How is the evidence quality of publications assessed?

A quality assessment of each included publication is undertaken. For randomized controlled trials and controlled clinical trials, the Cochrane Collaboration’s tool for assessing risk of bias is utilized. Nonrandomized controlled studies are assessed for quality using the Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale for Observational Studies.

Can I copy and/or re-use the information provided in the Consensus Database?

You can freely use the information contained in this Database if you correctly cite its source.

Does the Consensus Database contain all Consensus Statements ever made?

No, this database only contains a selection of Consensus Statements that are regarded as current and valid. Outdated and superseded Consensus Statements are not included.

What do the ITI Education Weeks offer?

ITI Education Weeks offer high quality continuing education courses in implant dentistry aligned to the ITI philosophy of evidence-based treatment approaches. They give practitioners the opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills in implant-related treatment.

The ITI Study Club presentations and videos are intended for use at ITI Study Club meetings.

Is it allowed to change the content of the Study Club presentations?

The presenter is free to modify the format and duration of the presentation to suit the educational requirements of the audience. To ensure a relatively uniform distribution of information throughout the ITI community, however, the content and principles contained within the presentation should not be altered in any substantial way.

Is there a difference between the Keynote Presentation and the PowerPoint Presentation?

The only difference between the Keynote Presentation (Mac/iOS) and the PowerPoint Presentation is the file type.

How can I earn Academy Coins?

Earn Academy Coins by completing or retaking any of the free assessments and by improving your assessment scores. Earn more Coins by carrying out various other activities on the platform such as rating content, commenting on content or using the Case Cloud to document your clinical cases.

Is it possible to participate in an event as a guest?

Within the event details you have the possibility to Request guest participation. This is only possible for events where you have the right to participate as a guest. The guest participation needs to be accepted by the event owner.

46. What kind of financial support does an ITI Scholar receive?

Please refer to the information provided on the Scholarship program webpage for the stipend amounts that apply to the different ITI Scholarship Centers. The stipends reflect the cost of living in the city of the Scholarship Center. 

58. Are there possibilities for ITI Scholars to connect with past ITI Scholars who were at the same Center in preparation for their Scholarship year?

Yes, ITI Headquarters facilitates connections by sharing details of the previous Scholar who spent time at the Center a Scholar has been allocated to. This allows the Scholar to gather valuable insights and prepare for their new environment as well as the requirements of the Center. 

57. Are there language support services in regard to the language requirements of the ITI Scholarship Centers?

While ITI Scholarship Centers prioritize a professional environment, language support services are typically left up to the Scholar. Many Scholars take language courses, tutoring sessions, or language exchange programs to aid communication skills prior to and/or during the Scholarship year. Make sure to inform yourself of the Scholarship Center language requirements on the ITI website.

56. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. Please refer to the descriptions of the ITI Scholarship Centers on the ITI website for in-depth information on the activities during the Scholarship year.

55. Will I definitely be allocated to one of the preferred ITI Scholarship Centers that I enter in my Scholarship application?

While we strive to fulfill preferences, securing one of your preferred ITI Scholarship Centers is not guaranteed. With numerous applicants for limited spots, less than 10% of applicants are allocated to their preferred center. It's essential to remain flexible in your selection. Being open to different options enhances your chances of experiencing the program's benefits and furthering your professional development.

54. What is required of the ITI Scholars after the Scholarship year?

The ITI encourages ITI Scholars to continue their engagement with the ITI community beyond their Scholarship year. We anticipate that Scholars will find fulfilling paths within the ITI community, allowing them to further their professional and personal development and contribute to the collective knowledge and exertise of our global network. Furthermore, upon their return to their home Section after the Scholarship year ITI Scholars should contact their Section Leadership Team to get involved in the Section’s activities. 

53. Do I have to pay tax on my Scholarship stipend?

Scholars should be mindful of potential tax obligations and seek guidance from both local authorities and their Scholarship Center Chair. 

52. Do I have to open a bank account in the country of my Scholarship Center to receive the Scholarship stipend?

That is left up to the Scholar. The stipend can also be deposited in an account belonging to the Scholar in his or her country of residence. However, we recommend opening an account in the host country in order to avoid bank charges and currency exchange fluctuations.

49. When is the financial support paid?

The stipend is  paid in two installments. The first installment is provided at the beginning of the Scholarship year, once the ITI Scholarship Center Chair confirms the Scholar's arrival at the Center. The second installment is given after six months, following the provision of the the Scholar's intermediate report to ITI Headquarters. The stipend is meant to support the Scholar for expenses such as accommodation and other cost of living and will be transferred to an account held by the ITI Scholar by ITI Headquarters. 

48. Is additional financial aid available for ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship?

Each year, the ITI offers additional financial aid to a maximum of 5 ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship and do not have sufficient means to cover their living expenses. To be considered for this support, candidates applying for additional financial aid are requested to provide detailed information about their financial situation, including their own and their parents' circumstances.

47. Does the financial support cover the cost of living and accommodation in full?

No, this is not the case. It contributes toward the cost of living and accommodation during the ITI Scholarship year. We advise applicants to consider their preferred centers/locations carefully, as certain destinations are very expensive. It is essential to understand that the stipend will not cover all the living costs in those locations. We encourage thorough consideration to ensure a comfortable and sustainable experience during the program. 

45. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. 44. Do I need insurance cover during the Scholarship year?

Yes. Each ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing his or her own health insurance for the ITI Scholarship year. Additionally, professional liability insurance is crucial and must be covered by the Scholar in order to participate in the program. If no reciprocal arrangement is available between the home country and the ITI Scholarship Center country, the ITI Scholar should take out additional health cover to ensure comprehensive protection during the Scholarship year. Scholars are advised to discuss all matters related to insurance matters with their Scholarship Center Chair right after confirmation of their ITI Scholarship to make sure insurance cover is in place in time for the start of the Scholarship year.

43. Is there help/support available when it comes to finding accommodation for the Scholarship year?

ITI Scholars will be put in contact with previous Scholars at their Center for tips and recommendations as to how to find accommodation. Scholars are also encouraged to to seek guidance from the administrative team/faculty at the Scholarship Center as to finding accommodation. Some Centers might offer on-campus accommodation for Scholars.

42. Can my partner/family accompany me on my Scholarship year?

The decision to have your partner or family accompany you on your Scholarship year is entirely up to you. However, it's important to note that the stipend provided is intended solely for the living costs of the Scholar and does not extend to accompanying family members. The ITI does not provide additional contributions beyond the stipend itself. The ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing any additional requirements for family members, such as visas, health insurance, and work/practice permits, if applicable.

 

41. Who covers travel costs to and from the ITI Scholarship Center country?

ITI Scholars are responsible for organizing and paying their travel costs. The ITI Scholarship stipend is transferred only after the ITI Scholar has officially started the ITI Scholarship year – upon confirmation of arrival by the Scholarship Center Chair. Therefore, Scholars need to be prepared to finance the flight to their Scholarship country out of their own pocket.

40. Who takes care of my travel arrangements to and from my Scholarship Center country?

Scholars are responsible for making their own their travel arrangements.

39. Do I have to start my Scholarship year on September 1?

Yes, each ITI Scholar is expected to start the Scholarship year on September 1 or on the first day of the month on which the Scholarship year starts for those Scholarship Centers with a different start date. The start dates specified in the descriptions of the Scholarship Centers must be adhered to within a two-week timeframe.

38. When does the ITI Scholarship year start?

The ITI Scholarship year commences September 1 of the year following the application and concludes August 31 of the subsequent year. For instance, if you apply for the Scholarship in June 2025, your Scholarship year will begin September 1, 2026, and conclude August 31, 2027. There are a couple of exceptions to this schedule for specific Scholarship Centers, which are detailed in the respective Scholarship Center descriptions on the ITI website.

37. If I am offered a place at an ITI Scholarship Center I do not want to go to and turn the offer down, will I be allocated to one of my preferred Scholarship Centers?

With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high. Therefore, candidates selected for an ITI Scholarship are expected to be willing to accept a place at a Scholarship Center that is not one of their three preferred Centers.

36. Can I find out why I was not accepted for an ITI Scholarship?

With the high volume of applications received annually, the ITI Leadership Development Committee does not provide specific reasons for its decisions as a matter of policy.

35. Can I contact ITI Headquarters to enquire about the status of my application?

Every applicant will be contacted by ITI Headquarters. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application. Due to the high number of applications received each year and the long timelines associated with the evaluation process of the applications, applicants are asked not to enquire about the status of their application.

19. Are there any restrictions on nationality for applying to the ITI Scholarship Program?

No, there are no restrictions on nationality for applying to the ITI Scholarship Program. The program is open to applicants of all nationalities.

34. When will I hear back from ITI Headquarters about my application?

Applicants will hear back from ITI Headquarters by the end of March of the year following their application at the latest.

18. If I sign up for ITI membership before I apply and don’t get an ITI Scholarship, will my ITI membership fee be refunded?

No, ITI membership is non-refundable.

33. What are the timelines associated with the application and selection process?

17. Should I send my documentation to ITI Headquarters?

No, do not send any application-related documents to ITI Headquarters. Documents sent by email or regular post will not be accepted. All required information and documents must be submitted through the online application portal. This ensures that the necessary details are correctly processed and reviewed.

16. Can I apply if I am not fluent in English?

Yes. Proficiency in English is important for communicating with ITI Headquarters, Scholarship applications, and within the greater ITI community; however, fluency is not mandatory. Language prerequisites and certification differ among ITI Scholarship Centers, as some Centers may not use English as their main language. Please refer to the specific language requirements on the ITI website.

14. I am working on my PhD. Can I do the ITI Scholarship program simultaneously?

No, this is not an option as ITI Scholars are expected to dedicate all their time to the ITI Scholarship. Therefore, PhDs must be finalized before the start of the ITI Scholarship. The same applies to other conflicting responsibilities such as functions in your host clinic, Scholarships from other organizations, family commitments in your home country, etc.

32. What is the selection process for ITI Scholarships?

Once the application portal has closed on the last day of June, all submitted applications undergo screening at ITI Headquarters. The ITI Leadership Development Committee completes a detailed evaluation of each application that meets the application requirements and rates each of the applications over the following months. Subsequently, the Committee members convene to discuss the applications and select the potential ITI Scholars for the upcoming year.

13. Can I apply for an ITI Scholarship while I am still a postgraduate?

Yes, you can apply for an ITI Scholarship while you are still in postgraduate training. However, your postgraduate training must be completed by the start date of your Scholarship year.

12. Does an age limit apply for ITI Scholarship applicants?

Yes, candidates must be 37 years or younger at the time of application. For example, if you turn 38 on or after July 1 of the application year, you are not eligible to apply. Please ensure you meet this age requirement along with all other eligibility criteria outlined on the ITI website.

31. How are ITI Scholarship recipients selected?

The selection process for ITI Scholarship recipients is rigorous and thorough. Once the application portal has closed, all submitted applications undergo screening at ITI Headquarters. The ITI Leadership Development Committee then completes a detailed evaluation of each application that meets the application requirements. Applications are assessed based on various criteria, including academic achievements, clinical experience, commitment to implant dentistry, leadership potential, and alignment with the goals of the ITI Scholarship Program. Subsequently, the Committee members convene to discuss the applications and select the potential ITI Scholars for the upcoming Scholarship year. The selection process aims to identify individuals who demonstrate exceptional promise.

11. Is it necessary to be an ITI Member to apply for an ITI Scholarship?

Yes, an ITI membership is required for your application and is non-refundable. ITI membership opens doors to a wide range of invaluable benefits designed to support your professional and academic growth. Utilize your membership to enhance your journey as a prospective candidate as well as your chances of success, not only for your Scholarship application, but also your professional growth and aspirations. Engage with the ITI Academy's extensive learning materials, participate in ITI Study Clubs, attend ITI Education Weeks and Section events, develop and strengthen your ties to the ITI community.

30. What documents do I need to submit with my application?

The documents below need to be uploaded during the online application process. These documents, except for the picture, must be signed by hand, saved as PDFs, and uploaded to the application profile:

• Two signed letters of recommendation: The recommendations must be recent (year of application) and ideally made by a professor, ITI Fellow, or similar. Please note that only recommendation letters signed by hand will be accepted.

• A picture (passport format - JPG, minimum size 140 x 185 pixels).

• Language certificate (not mandatory in all cases, please see the Scholarship Center descriptions on the ITI website for more information).

 

 

10. Is a language certificate necessary for non-native speakers when applying for a specific ITI Scholarship Center?

Most ITI Scholarship Centers require non-native English speakers to provide a language proficiency certificate (such as TOEFL or IELTS) before the start of the Scholarship year. Additionally, familiarity with the local language is advantageous and/or required for certain interactions within the center. Specific language requirements for each ITI Scholarship Center are outlined in their respective descriptions on the ITI website.

29. Do I need to provide a CV?

No, a CV is not required when applying for the ITI Scholarship Program. All the necessary information will be collected during the online application process via the application tool.

28. What is a letter of recommendation

A letter of recommendation is a letter written and signed by an academic or professional who is familiar with your work and character. Yes, you do. While you may have a preference for one Scholarship Center, it's essential to select three different preferred ITI Scholarship Centers as allocation to your first choice cannot be guaranteed. With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high.

24. To whom should my recommendation letters be addressed?

Recommendation letters should be addressed to the ITI Leadership Development Committee at ITI Headquarters in Basel and must be uploaded as a PDF during the online application process when requested. Do not send any separate attachments via email or conventional mail, as these will not be accepted. Additionally, ensure that recommendation letters are hand-signed and dated, and that they are dated from the year of application.

5. Do I need to apply via the ITI Scholarship online application portal?

Yes, only applications submitted via the online application portal and by the application deadline (i.e., the closing date and time of the application portal) will be accepted. Applications sent by email or regular post will not be accepted.

22. When will I be notified about the status of my application?

You can expect to receive notifications about the status of your application according to the following timeline: Usually, the first selected applicants will be informed by the end of January of the year following the application, along with the first round of unsuccessful applicants. The remaining applicants will receive notifications by the end of March. If you have not heard anything by then, this means you are on a contact list for last-minute cancellations. Please note that with hundreds of applications received each year, updates are not provided by ITI Headquarters. All applicants will be notified once their application status has been finalized. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application.


 

21. Will I definitely be allocated to one of the three ITI Scholarship Centers that I enter in my Scholarship application?

20. Can I apply for a Scholarship Center in my current/home country?

Please note that as an international organization, Scholars will not be allocated to a center in their current/home country. The aim of the ITI Scholarship program is to provide ITI Scholars with an international experience, fostering international exchange along with professional networking as well as cross-cultural learning.

3. Do I have to complete and submit my application in one session?

No, you do not have to complete and submit the online application form in one session. You can save your progress and return to complete and submit the application at a later time. However, be mindful of the deadline and ensure you submit your application before the closing date and time of the application portal. Late applications and/or applications sent by email or regular post will not be accepted. The Scholarship application portal is available on the ITI website from May 31, midnight UTC until June 30, midnight UTC.

To apply for an ITI Scholarship, please follow the link to the Scholarship application portal (available on the ITI website from May 31, midnight UTC until June 30, midnight UTC), log in, and fill in the required information. Your application can be completed over the course of the month of June and does not need to be completed in one sitting, provided it is not submitted. Once submitted, an application cannot be altered.

Can I submit an article for publication in Forum Implantologicum?

Generally, every half-year is devoted to a main topic agreed upon by the Editorial Board.

As a general rule, the articles in Forum Implantologicum are by invitation only. Nevertheless, individuals can submit articles for review and discussion by the Editorial Board.

Unsolicited articles can be submitted as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) via email to the editorial office at ITI Headquarters. They will be reviewed by the Editorial Board at its next meeting in order to determine their appropriateness for future publication. Authors will be notified of the Editorial Board’s decision after the meeting. As a matter of policy, the Editorial Board does not provide any reasons for not accepting submissions for publication.

How do I set up my course structure?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation of your Classroom administration. 'Blocks' will represent the events, modules, days, etc. that your course curriculum consists of. You can add as many blocks as you want by clicking the 'Add block' button. You can then assign Academy- or Custom resources to your blocks. 

I changed someone's data but the changes haven't been saved. What do I need to do?

If you change a person's data, save the changes using the button on the right-hand side of the page.

Where can I get technical support for my Campus/Classroom?

How do I become a Campus or Classroom Administrator?

Campus Administrator: This role can only be assigned by ITI Headquarters. Campus Admins have full administrative access to the Campus and all its Classrooms. Main tasks: Adding/managing Classrooms, assigning Classroom Admins, providing support to Classroom Admins and Faculty. 
Classroom Administrator: This role is assigned by the Campus Admin or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. 

What user roles exist in a Classroom and what are their permissions?

There are three user roles in a Classroom that are characterized by different objectives and permissions: Classroom Administrator, Classroom Faculty and Classroom Participant.

  • Classroom Administrators have full access to all administrative features of their Classroom and provide general technical support. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Campus Administrator or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content. Their main tasks are: Managing the Classroom Participants and their roles, managing the course structure and resources, managing the forum, tracking Classroom usage statistics and assessment performance. The Classroom Administrator role is optional if Faculty can cover its tasks.
  • Faculty is mainly an educational role. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content to prepare the course and to all the administrative features of their Classroom. Faculty is assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator and defines the course structure and the learning material to be used. They can also manage the forum and track Classroom access, usage statistics and assessment performance.
  • Classroom Participants have no administrative privileges in the Classrooms. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator, have viewing access to all Classroom resources, can download custom resources, can start threads and post on the Classroom forum. They can also share their Case Cloud Cases with the Classroom.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

To add people to your Classroom, click on 'Participants' in the navigation and then on the 'Import People' button. If you are importing people into this Classroom for the first time, download the Excel template by clicking the 'Download template' button. Open the template, read the instructions and enter all the necessary information. You can also add people later. All the fields are mandatory. If a row contains an empty field, the user will not be imported. The information in the 'Country*' column must match one of the countries exactly as it is listed in the template. Email addresses must be valid.
When adding users who are ITI Members, make sure to use the email address associated with their ITI membership to avoid duplicate accounts. The same goes for users who already have a free ITI Affiliate account. It is not possible to delete users. If you have added a user by mistake, please click the 'Deactivate' button for this user. Imported Participants have to confirm their email address to gain access to the system. Save the Excel file on your computer. In your 'Add Participants' dialog, click the 'Select list of participants...' button, choose the Excel file you have saved to your computer and click the 'OK' button. If you want to prevent the system from sending out email notifications informing people that they have been added to the classroom, then untick the corresponding check box. Important: Do not deactivate the notification unless all participants to be added are already active in other Classrooms on this Campus.

What is in the email that newly added participants receive?

Participants receive the following welcome email:

The Classroom administrator of the [name of Classroom] Classroom has added your email address to the list of participants.

Follow the steps below to access your Classroom in the ITI Academy:

How can I add people to my Classroom?

Add people to the classroom by entering them in the existing Excel list and uploading it again. The system will not import the same users twice. If you change a user’s email address in the list and upload it again, the system will create an additional account for this user or, if the new email address is already in the system, it will add the user to the classroom again with the existing account. Please make sure to deactivate the redundant account. If participants have not responded to the email verification message, you can resend the message to all unverified users by clicking on the 'Resend Verification Emails' button. 

How can I manage classroom participants and assign Administrator/Faculty roles?

Click on 'Participants' in the navigation to display the list of current participants in your classroom. You can switch between the lists of 'Active' and 'Deactivated' participants at the top of the page. You can assign/un-assign specific roles to/from individual users by checking/unchecking the following options: 
Faculty: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.' and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs
Administration: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.'  and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs 
Deactivated: User is removed from the Classroom but is still displayed under “Deactivated” 
No option chosen: User is an active Participant/Student and is listed in the corresponding section  
The color code indicates the status of your users at a glance: 
Green indicates that the user has validated the account by clicking the corresponding link in the confirmation email or that the user already had a valid account prior to being assigned to the classroom. He or she is therefore able to log into the Classroom. 
Red indicates that the user account has been created by the system but the user has not yet clicked on the confirmation link in the email he or she received. The user cannot log into the Classroom. 

How do I manage my course blocks?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation. After adding a block using the  'Add block' button, enter the title (mandatory) and a description for it, e.g. its date, time and duration. Save your entries by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page. In the 'blocks' list underneath the save button, you can change the sort order of your blocks using drag & drop or jump directly to a specific block in the administration to edit it. 
You can change the title, description or sort order of your course blocks anytime. If you want to delete a block, click the '-' icon on the right side of the title. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page.

What kind of resources can I add to the Classroom?

There are three types of resources that you can add:

  • Academy resources: E-Learning material from the ITI Academy
  • Custom resources: Your own files that you want to share with the Classroom participants
  • Weblink resources: Links to external sources, websites, file servers, etc. Recommended for, for example, large video files.

Case Cloud Cases cannot be assigned through the Classroom administration. They have to be shared with the Classroom by the author of the Case using the Case Cloud. Only members of a Classroom can share their Cases with it.

Where can I get payment confirmation for previous periods?

You can download payment confirmation for a previous period on the Settings page. Go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status, click on Show past invoices to access the Get payment confirmation link.

Can I generate a report for the assessments I carry out with the tool?

You can generate a PDF report of your case assessments at the end of the assessment process when the final case classification is displayed. Valid ITI membership is required to make use of this feature. Please log in before starting your assessment.

What are the benefits of participating in an ITI Education Weeks?

Participants benefit from:

What is a “Sort by Proximity”?

A “Sort by Proximity”  shows search results near your location based on your IP address.

What is the format of the final exam?

The final examination consists of 80 multiple choice questions to be completed in 90 minutes. Candidates need to answer at least 60% of the questions correctly in order to pass the exam and get ITI certification.

Do I have to anonymize patient data?

All diagnostic and clinical data (e.g. texts, images, videos) uploaded or submitted to our website are voluntary and any personal information relating to patients must be anonymized unless documented informed consent has previously been obtained from the patient (any recipient of health care services). You can find more information in the Terms of Use.

How can I cancel an event without informing the participants?

Search for the event you want to cancel and click on the event title.

You can cancel a published event by clicking on Cancel event. No notifications will be sent out.

If you want to inform the participants of the cancellation, first check the Send notifications box.

How can I edit published events?

Search for the event you want to edit and then open it:

  • change the general information
  • change the description
  • change the communication
  • change participants

and click on Save.

Click on Send update notifications if you want to inform the participants about the changes.  

Can I copy/paste text to my course block descriptions?

When pasting text from another application such as MS Word or from PDF files to the block description, you need to ensure that the text is stripped of all formatting information as this may cause the text to be displayed incorrectly. Formatting information can be removed by pasting the text into a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad or TextEdit on Mac. Select the whole text and choose ‘remove/clear all formatting’ before copying it into the block description. You can also use a free online tool for the same purpose (e.g. http://www.striphtml.com/). 

How and when are fellowship nominations approved?

The ITI Board of Directors decides on the  fellowship nominations received twice (Spring/Fall) a year.

What’s the registration fee for students?

Postgraduate students have a 50% discount on the regular membership fee.

Where can I download the ITI Treatment Guides?

We cannot provide electronic versions of the Treatment Guides for download. Log in to read them online in our e-library by clicking here.

Do I get print copies of previous Treatment Guides if I register as an ITI Member now?

No, you do not receive any print copies of the ITI Treatment Guide series. However, after registering as an ITI Member you benefit from a discount if you purchase the books from Quintessence. As an ITI Member, you can also access every volume of the Treatment Guide series in digital form in our e-library.

Are there any resources, presentations and tools available for ITI Speakers?

As an ITI Speaker, you have access to the Speaker Tools.

What is the duration of the hands-on program at Foundation level?

The hands-on program takes approximately 1 - 2 days.

What is the ‘Free preview’ feature that is displayed on certain learning items?

If you are not logged in or do not have the right to access a learning item, you can still watch a preview of it that will tell you what to expect in terms of content. E.g., you see the introductory slides of a learning module, including the learning objectives.

What profile information is visible to other ITI Members?

ITI Members who log in can see your network profile with your profile picture, title, degree, first name, last name, city, country, membership status (type, Member since), the number of awards earned, your affiliations and functions, your professional summary and detail about the awards earned.

Where can I get my payment confirmation?

You can download your payment confirmation on the Settings page. Please go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status you will find a Get payment confirmation link.

Where can I get my ITI Study Club certificate?

I am an ITI Member. Is my ITI profile public?

No, not automatically. Your network profile is only accessible to ITI Members. You need to go to your public profile settings and check the box near the top of the page to make your profile accessible to the general public. Your public address, public profile email, public profile website, public profile phone number and the CV visible on the public profile will be accessible to the public.

Where can I get my ITI membership certificate?

You can download your ITI membership certificate on the Settings page. Please go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status you will find a Get membership certificate button.

How can I edit my profile?

Go to your Settings page and modify the information as required.

How do I add an ITI Member to my Study Club?

Go to "Add Members" and click on the button to add a person.

What do the icons under each persons data mean?

The first icon shows the membership status. The second icon shows the membership mode. And the last icon shows the modifier of the membership (C = classic membership, D = digital membership, A = Affiliate).

Where can I see what type of membership a person has?

You can see this information under each persons data as an icon (D, C or A).

If I don't want to list a budget of a certain study club in the report, what do I need to do?

You can uncheck the box with "List in report" and then scroll to the end of the page and click on save.

When can I register for ITI Education Weeks that are taking place next year?

As soon as an ITI Education Week finishes we start to prepare for the following year. The registration link will be published on the website as soon as registration opens.

The name and address on my certificate/payment confirmation is not correct, where can I correct this?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page and amend your membership data first. Afterwards, the system automatically changes the pdf that is at the same time your membership certificate and your payment confirmation. You can download them as often as you need (back till 2016).

Can I visit an ITI congress in another country?

Yes, most ITI congresses are simultaneously translated into different languages. Please see the congress details to see the available languages.

What are my benefits as an ITI Fellow?

You are entitled to take on responsibility in ITI Sections and/or on international committees. In addition, you are invited to the Annual General Meeting and may submit motions and vote. You also get the opportunity to broaden your personal network with likeminded professionals as well as opinion leaders.

Where can I find the event details?

Can I participate in Study Clubs in other countries, e.g. during holidays?

Yes, ITI Members can participate in any Study Club. Please notify the Study Club Director about your participation to help facilitate his planning (room, AV, catering).

What does it mean if I see “email address already in use” when registering?

You already have a valid membership associated with this email address. The email address is a unique identifier for each membership. It cannot be used twice.

What is a Learning Pathway?

Learning Pathways are content clusters preselected by our Editors. They explain and illustrate learning topics by combining the theoretical knowledge from the Theory & Principles area with examples from clinical practice taken from the Clinical Applications area. These tailor-made packages are continuously updated to offer a 360° view of all topics in implant dentistry.

How often is the Section Handbook updated?

ITI Headquarters updates the Section Handbook twice a year. Changes to the ITI Articles, which are the basis for the Section Handbook, must be approved by the General Assembly during the spring meeting.

Where can I find more information on running an ITI Section ?

In Documents and Guidelines, ITI Headquarters maintains the Section Handbook, which provides detailed information on how Sections are supposed to be run. The handbook complements the ITI Articles.

How can I find an event?

The Events Search page offers an overview of all upcoming ITI events and courses. It includes Section and Study Club events as well as Education Courses.

Who can see my public profile?

If you make your public profile accessible to the public, every website visitor can see your profile.

It will show your name, your profile picture, your public address, public profile email, website and phone number, as well as your CV. You can change any and all of the information that is displayed by going to your public profile settings.

I am an ITI Academy author. Is my ITI profile public?

Yes, your profile is public because of your role as an ITI Academy author. You can change the information shown in your profile in Settings at any time.

What are Forum subscriptions?

If you subscribe to a forum in a given language, you will receive an email if a new post is uploaded to this forum. You will also see the newest forum threads from this forum on your My Community page. 

How can I add an ITI friend?

Find the person in our Directory of ITI Fellows and Members and click on + add friend. You can also go to the internal profile page of the person and click on Send friend request.

If you see Friend requested, your request is still pending. The person you requested to become your friend can accept or ignore your request. You will not be informed if your request is ignored.

If your request is accepted, you will see the person's activities in your Community Feed and you can send them messages.

How can I log out?

Click on Logout to log out.

I forgot my password. What can I do?

Do not contact us to retrieve your password. We cannot see any of our users' passwords in the system. Please request a password reset link here and follow the instructions.

How do I log in to my ITI account?

Locate the Login area. Enter your email address and password and click on the Log in button.

How can I change my registered email address?

Locate the Login area. Log in and go to the Settings page. There you can change your registered email address.

How can I leave or change my ITI Study Club?

If you want to change your ITI Study Club, the first step is to leave your current ITI Study Club. To leave your ITI Study Club, click on Leave Study Club on your My Community page.

The ITI Study Club Director of your current ITI Study Club will be informed by email that you have left the ITI Study Club.

Is it possible to participate in an ITI Study Club meeting as a guest?

Non-Members should go to the Events search page where they can browse a list of all "Study Club Meetings" around the world to find one in their area. To receive an email invitation to a meeting of your choice, just click on Attend as guest and fill out the information under Request guest participation.

How can I join an ITI Study Club?

Logged-in ITI Fellows and Members can join a Study Club in their area here. Non-Members should contact the Study Club Director and he or she will issue an invitation to a Study Club meeting as a guest.

How will I receive payment confirmation and my membership certificate?

For every membership payment made, the ITI website automatically sends payment confirmation and a membership certificate to the registered email address. It is also possible to download these documents from the ITI website. Go to your Settings page and then to Membership, Certificates & Billing.

How can I access my ITI partner account?

New accounts must use the "forgot Password" function here to set a password.

Where do I get the payment confirmation for my membership fee?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page, and switch to the Membership, Certificates & Billing page. Under Invoices & payment confirmations you can download all payment confirmations of all previously paid periods (back till 2016) by clicking Get payment confirmation.

Can I update my membership data?

Yes, you only need to log in and then you can change all personal data including the email address in your Settings area.

What are the professional requirements to become a Fellow?

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high level of activity in at least one of the following areas: Education, Research and/or Leadership in a professional dental organization. Please also check the Articles of the ITI.

What are the benefits of an ITI membership?

There are various membership benefits. The ITI’s mission is to serve the dental profession by providing a growing global network for life-long learning in implant dentistry through comprehensive quality education and innovative research to the benefit of the patient. Members benefit from discounts or free access to this network.

I registered for membership but cannot log in to the ITI website. The system tells me my email is in use but I have no access. What can I do?

When a new registration is received, the ITI website sends out an email with an activation link. Check your inbox (as well as spam and junk folders) for this email and click on the activation link. Your account has now been activated and you can log in to the ITI website.

You can use this link once only. If you need another activation link, click Resend Verification Email

Why did I not receive the verification email?

Click Resend Verification Email. Please also check your spam/junk email folder. Make sure your firewall or virus scanner is not blocking the email. Contact your email provider. If you still cannot receive emails from the ITI Website, use a different email address to register.

I want to become an ITI Member and join a Study Club. What do I need to do?

Register for membership, go to Study Clubs and choose a Study Club in your area. Before registration, you can view upcoming Study Club events in the Events search.

What can be found under Theory & Principles?

Where can I find treatment examples in the Academy?

Clinical Applications comprises Clinical Cases and Clinical Videos on a broad range of clinical case types and demonstrates their management in clinical practice.

How do the Assessments work?

For every Learning Module, there is a corresponding Assessment. It consists of 20 questions that are randomly picked from a bigger question pool. You will see a new set of questions every time you take an Assessment. Upon finishing the Assessment, you can review your answers one by one and compare them with the correct solution for each question. You need to answer 60% of the questions correctly to pass.

You can check your scores, review your answers and complete Assessments you have not yet finished under My Academy at any time.

Can I improve my Assessment scores?

Yes. You can retake Assessments as many times as you like.

How can I start an Assessment?

Go to the details page of an Assessment and click on Start.

Are there any prerequisites for taking an Assessment?

The Assessments in the ITI Academy are available to you at no charge and anytime – without having to complete a Learning Module first.

Is the range of Assessments provided complete?

Is it possible to see an event invitation status?

There are three possible event invitation status corresponding to your settings in the event communication:

  1. Disabled: Invitation type Send nothing was selected
  2. Date displayed in green: Invitation was sent at this date
  3. Date displayed in red: Invitation date is set in the future

Where can I see the event participation status?

You can see the event participation status of each participant on the Participants page. The status is also included in the participant list download.

Possible participation status are:

  1. Accepted = the invitation was accepted.
  2. Declined = the invitation was declined.
  3. Unanswered = the invitation was delivered but the participant did not answer until now.
  4. None = the invitation was not delivered until now. For example when the send invitation date is not reached yet or the event is still in draft or cancel status.

I can't find the person, I am looking for. What can I do?

You can find a person by name, ID or email address. 

Who has access to the Guidelines & Templates area?

Access to this area is limited to specific functions within the ITI.

Where can I find the certificates of a member?

  1. Search the member and click on the member tile.
  2. Go to Certificates.
  3. Download the membership certificate or the Study Club certificate.

How can I edit draft events?

Compared to the option to edit a published event, draft events cannot be "cancelled" and you cannot send reminders for events that are not published yet either. Instead, you can publish the event and delete the draft event completely.

Who is an ITI Guest? Who is an Non-ITI Guest?

There are two types of Guests:

  • ITI Guests: ITI Members who are not member of your Section.
  • Non-ITI Guests: Users who do not have an ITI Membership. They can participate in two ITI Study Club events. After that, they need to become ITI Members in order to be able to participate in another event.

Who is in the Scope of an event?

All permanent members of the selected user group(s). New Members and Fellows in the system will be added to the participant scope dynamically.

Please note: Scopes will not be changeable after the event publication.

Can I upload a list of participants for an event?

To make the guest invitation easier you can upload a list with the title, first name, last name, email address and country of the guest. The system automatically allocates the new participants to the correct participant group based on the email address. Existing users in the system receive an event invitation email. Not existing users in the system first receive an email with the information that their contact data was stored.

Who can be a Guest Speaker?

ITI Members or users who do not have an ITI Membership. They will be displayed in the event invitations and on the events page after the event is published.

What is the invitation type of an event and how can I change it?

There are three invitation types for events:

  1. Send nothing: The event is published in the event calendar without any notification and without an accept/decline
  2. Send notification only: All participants receive an email notification without an accept/decline option
  3. Send invitation: All participants receive an email invitation and can accept/decline

The event invitation type can not be changed anymore after the event was published.

Where can I see an overview of the status of all events?

There are three different workflow status of events:

  1. Published: List of all upcoming events
  2. Draft: List of created events that have not been published yet
  3. Cancelled: List of events that were published but have been cancelled

If you want to see past events in a category, click on Show past events.

How can I create an event?

Click on + Create event. Enter the event name and select the event type. Click on Create event.

To publish your event take the steps listed:

  1. Set a date
  2. Enter your venue
  3. Select scopes
  4. Update communication settings

Where can I see my open tasks?

You can see your open tasks on your My Messages & Tasks page.

What is a task?

A task refers to steps that still need to be completed for which you receive a system-generated reminder.

Where can I see my leadership group(s)?

You can see your leadership group(s) on your My Leadership page.

Where can people see my author profile information?

As an ITI Academy author you have a public profile, on which author information as well as a statement on financial relationships and conflict of interests are displayed.

What happens if I unsubscribe from News subscriptions?

You can opt out of receiving promotional or marketing communications from us at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email communications we send, or adjusting the preferences in your account settings (restriction of processing).

If you have an account for our services, we may still send you non-promotional transactional communications, like service or membership-related emails.

What counts as an action?

Actions can be page views, internal site searches, downloads or outlinks.

Is there a basic ITI account and what can I do with it?

With an Affiliate account you can already use a wide variety of content and tools, like Assessments, the Consensus Database, etc. Plus, you have permanent access to all the content you have purchased, including free periodic updates to your Learning Modules that reflect the current state of research and scientific evidence.

I need a new password but cannot receive emails because I also changed my email address. I cannot open my old email account. What can I do?

Ask your Section Administrator or Study Club Director to contact us. If they can prove that you are an ITI Member and known to them, we will change your email address and send a password reset link to your new email.

Alternatively you can also send us your last membership certificate or payment confirmation.

I receive emails from the ITI website very irregularly. What's wrong?

If you only receive our newsletters and invitations on an irregular basis, your email provider is most likely temporarily blocking our emails. We send our emails over a management system with an excellent global reputation to avoid such problems as far as possible.

Today most emails are auto-scanned for possible spam content. For example, simple keywords like "tobacco" can trigger the classification of the sending domain as a spam domain and block it for a limited time. In such cases, you will receive emails from the ITI but sometimes they are blocked.

Unfortunately we can not track our emails after they are sent out to your provider's domain. We advise you to contact your provider for more information.

I do not receive any emails from the ITI website. What's wrong?

Please check the following points:

  1. Are your email settings in your personal profile up to date? Please check if the email address in your account is up to date and is spelled correctly.
  2. Did you receive ITI emails lately? If not, please change your email address in your profile settings. Some domain providers are blacklisted. Our provider blocks emails to these providers to protect us from spam replies or malware. Contact your internet service provider to solve this.
  3. Are ITI emails in your spam folder?
  4. Is your local computer blocking the emails due to strict firewall/virus scan settings or other safety measures. Please check your security settings or contact your local IT service.
  5. Did you accidentally unsubscribe from a newsletter you received from ITI.ORG, using the link at the bottom of a newsletter? If you wish to join the mailing list again, contact ITI Headquarters: [email protected].

Which browsers are supported?

To maximize compatibility across platforms and devices the ITI website is fully HTML5-based. Due to the sophisticated technology used and to avoid technical difficulties you are required to use one of the following browsers when accessing the ITI website:

Can I use the ITI website on all devices?

The ITI website works on all devices (PCs, tablets, smartphones) capable of running a fully HMTL5-compatible browser. The platform is designed to adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions. Please note that certain limitations may apply to devices with small screens (e.g. smartphones).

Can I use the ITI website offline?

You must be connected to the Internet to use the ITI website. Offline access is not possible.

What counts as a visit?

If a visitor comes to iti.org for the first time or if they visit a page more than 30 minutes after their last page view, this will be recorded as a new visit.

What is the bounce rate?

This is the percentage of visits that only had a single page view. This means that the visitor left the website directly from the entrance page.

46. What kind of financial support does an ITI Scholar receive?

Please refer to the information provided on the Scholarship program webpage for the stipend amounts that apply to the different ITI Scholarship Centers. The stipends reflect the cost of living in the city of the Scholarship Center. 

58. Are there possibilities for ITI Scholars to connect with past ITI Scholars who were at the same Center in preparation for their Scholarship year?

Yes, ITI Headquarters facilitates connections by sharing details of the previous Scholar who spent time at the Center a Scholar has been allocated to. This allows the Scholar to gather valuable insights and prepare for their new environment as well as the requirements of the Center. 

57. Are there language support services in regard to the language requirements of the ITI Scholarship Centers?

While ITI Scholarship Centers prioritize a professional environment, language support services are typically left up to the Scholar. Many Scholars take language courses, tutoring sessions, or language exchange programs to aid communication skills prior to and/or during the Scholarship year. Make sure to inform yourself of the Scholarship Center language requirements on the ITI website.

56. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. Please refer to the descriptions of the ITI Scholarship Centers on the ITI website for in-depth information on the activities during the Scholarship year.

55. Will I definitely be allocated to one of the preferred ITI Scholarship Centers that I enter in my Scholarship application?

While we strive to fulfill preferences, securing one of your preferred ITI Scholarship Centers is not guaranteed. With numerous applicants for limited spots, less than 10% of applicants are allocated to their preferred center. It's essential to remain flexible in your selection. Being open to different options enhances your chances of experiencing the program's benefits and furthering your professional development.

54. What is required of the ITI Scholars after the Scholarship year?

The ITI encourages ITI Scholars to continue their engagement with the ITI community beyond their Scholarship year. We anticipate that Scholars will find fulfilling paths within the ITI community, allowing them to further their professional and personal development and contribute to the collective knowledge and exertise of our global network. Furthermore, upon their return to their home Section after the Scholarship year ITI Scholars should contact their Section Leadership Team to get involved in the Section’s activities. 

53. Do I have to pay tax on my Scholarship stipend?

Scholars should be mindful of potential tax obligations and seek guidance from both local authorities and their Scholarship Center Chair. 

52. Do I have to open a bank account in the country of my Scholarship Center to receive the Scholarship stipend?

That is left up to the Scholar. The stipend can also be deposited in an account belonging to the Scholar in his or her country of residence. However, we recommend opening an account in the host country in order to avoid bank charges and currency exchange fluctuations.

49. When is the financial support paid?

The stipend is  paid in two installments. The first installment is provided at the beginning of the Scholarship year, once the ITI Scholarship Center Chair confirms the Scholar's arrival at the Center. The second installment is given after six months, following the provision of the the Scholar's intermediate report to ITI Headquarters. The stipend is meant to support the Scholar for expenses such as accommodation and other cost of living and will be transferred to an account held by the ITI Scholar by ITI Headquarters. 

48. Is additional financial aid available for ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship?

Each year, the ITI offers additional financial aid to a maximum of 5 ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship and do not have sufficient means to cover their living expenses. To be considered for this support, candidates applying for additional financial aid are requested to provide detailed information about their financial situation, including their own and their parents' circumstances.

47. Does the financial support cover the cost of living and accommodation in full?

No, this is not the case. It contributes toward the cost of living and accommodation during the ITI Scholarship year. We advise applicants to consider their preferred centers/locations carefully, as certain destinations are very expensive. It is essential to understand that the stipend will not cover all the living costs in those locations. We encourage thorough consideration to ensure a comfortable and sustainable experience during the program. 

45. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. Please refer to the descriptions of the ITI Scholarship Centers on the ITI website for in-depth information on the activities during the Scholarship year.

44. Do I need insurance cover during the Scholarship year?

Yes. Each ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing his or her own health insurance for the ITI Scholarship year. Additionally, professional liability insurance is crucial and must be covered by the Scholar in order to participate in the program. If no reciprocal arrangement is available between the home country and the ITI Scholarship Center country, the ITI Scholar should take out additional health cover to ensure comprehensive protection during the Scholarship year. Scholars are advised to discuss all matters related to insurance matters with their Scholarship Center Chair right after confirmation of their ITI Scholarship to make sure insurance cover is in place in time for the start of the Scholarship year.

43. Is there help/support available when it comes to finding accommodation for the Scholarship year?

ITI Scholars will be put in contact with previous Scholars at their Center for tips and recommendations as to how to find accommodation. Scholars are also encouraged to to seek guidance from the administrative team/faculty at the Scholarship Center as to finding accommodation. Some Centers might offer on-campus accommodation for Scholars.

42. Can my partner/family accompany me on my Scholarship year?

The decision to have your partner or family accompany you on your Scholarship year is entirely up to you. However, it's important to note that the stipend provided is intended solely for the living costs of the Scholar and does not extend to accompanying family members. The ITI does not provide additional contributions beyond the stipend itself. The ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing any additional requirements for family members, such as visas, health insurance, and work/practice permits, if applicable.

 

41. Who covers travel costs to and from the ITI Scholarship Center country?

ITI Scholars are responsible for organizing and paying their travel costs. The ITI Scholarship stipend is transferred only after the ITI Scholar has officially started the ITI Scholarship year – upon confirmation of arrival by the Scholarship Center Chair. Therefore, Scholars need to be prepared to finance the flight to their Scholarship country out of their own pocket.

40. Who takes care of my travel arrangements to and from my Scholarship Center country?

Scholars are responsible for making their own their travel arrangements.

39. Do I have to start my Scholarship year on September 1?

Yes, each ITI Scholar is expected to start the Scholarship year on September 1 or on the first day of the month on which the Scholarship year starts for those Scholarship Centers with a different start date. The start dates specified in the descriptions of the Scholarship Centers must be adhered to within a two-week timeframe.

38. When does the ITI Scholarship year start?

The ITI Scholarship year commences September 1 of the year following the application and concludes August 31 of the subsequent year. For instance, if you apply for the Scholarship in June 2025, your Scholarship year will begin September 1, 2026, and conclude August 31, 2027. There are a couple of exceptions to this schedule for specific Scholarship Centers, which are detailed in the respective Scholarship Center descriptions on the ITI website.

37. If I am offered a place at an ITI Scholarship Center I do not want to go to and turn the offer down, will I be allocated to one of my preferred Scholarship Centers?

With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high. Therefore, candidates selected for an ITI Scholarship are expected to be willing to accept a place at a Scholarship Center that is not one of their three preferred Centers.

36. Can I find out why I was not accepted for an ITI Scholarship?

With the high volume of applications received annually, the ITI Leadership Development Committee does not provide specific reasons for its decisions as a matter of policy.

35. Can I contact ITI Headquarters to enquire about the status of my application?

Every applicant will be contacted by ITI Headquarters. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application. Due to the high number of applications received each year and the long timelines associated with the evaluation process of the applications, applicants are asked not to enquire about the status of their application.

19. Are there any restrictions on nationality for applying to the ITI Scholarship Program?

No, there are no restrictions on nationality for applying to the ITI Scholarship Program. The program is open to applicants of all nationalities.

34. When will I hear back from ITI Headquarters about my application?

Applicants will hear back from ITI Headquarters by the end of March of the year following their application at the latest.

18. If I sign up for ITI membership before I apply and don’t get an ITI Scholarship, will my ITI membership fee be refunded?

No, ITI membership is non-refundable.

33. What are the timelines associated with the application and selection process?

17. Should I send my documentation to ITI Headquarters?

No, do not send any application-related documents to ITI Headquarters. Documents sent by email or regular post will not be accepted. All required information and documents must be submitted through the online application portal. This ensures that the necessary details are correctly processed and reviewed.

16. Can I apply if I am not fluent in English?

Yes. Proficiency in English is important for communicating with ITI Headquarters, Scholarship applications, and within the greater ITI community; however, fluency is not mandatory. Language prerequisites and certification differ among ITI Scholarship Centers, as some Centers may not use English as their main language. Please refer to the specific language requirements on the ITI website.

14. I am working on my PhD. Can I do the ITI Scholarship program simultaneously?

No, this is not an option as ITI Scholars are expected to dedicate all their time to the ITI Scholarship. Therefore, PhDs must be finalized before the start of the ITI Scholarship. The same applies to other conflicting responsibilities such as functions in your host clinic, Scholarships from other organizations, family commitments in your home country, etc.

32. What is the selection process for ITI Scholarships?

Once the application portal has closed on the last day of June, all submitted applications undergo screening at ITI Headquarters. The ITI Leadership Development Committee completes a detailed evaluation of each application that meets the application requirements and rates each of the applications over the following months. Subsequently, the Committee members convene to discuss the applications and select the potential ITI Scholars for the upcoming year.

13. Can I apply for an ITI Scholarship while I am still a postgraduate?

Yes, you can apply for an ITI Scholarship while you are still in postgraduate training. However, your postgraduate training must be completed by the start date of your Scholarship year.

12. Does an age limit apply for ITI Scholarship applicants?

Yes, candidates must be 37 years or younger at the time of application. For example, if you turn 38 on or after July 1 of the application year, you are not eligible to apply. Please ensure you meet this age requirement along with all other eligibility criteria outlined on the ITI website.

31. How are ITI Scholarship recipients selected?

The selection process for ITI Scholarship recipients is rigorous and thorough. Once the application portal has closed, all submitted applications undergo screening at ITI Headquarters. The ITI Leadership Development Committee then completes a detailed evaluation of each application that meets the application requirements. Applications are assessed based on various criteria, including academic achievements, clinical experience, commitment to implant dentistry, leadership potential, and alignment with the goals of the ITI Scholarship Program. 11. Is it necessary to be an ITI Member to apply for an ITI Scholarship?

Yes, an ITI membership is required for your application and is non-refundable. 30. What documents do I need to submit with my application?

The documents below need to be uploaded during the online application process. These documents, except for the picture, must be signed by hand, saved as PDFs, and uploaded to the application profile:

• Two signed letters of recommendation: The recommendations must be recent (year of application) and ideally made by a professor, ITI Fellow, or similar. Please note that only recommendation letters signed by hand will be accepted.

• A picture (passport format - JPG, minimum size 140 x 185 pixels).

• Language certificate (not mandatory in all cases, please see the Scholarship Center descriptions on the ITI website for more information).

 

 

10. Is a language certificate necessary for non-native speakers when applying for a specific ITI Scholarship Center?

Most ITI Scholarship Centers require non-native English speakers to provide a language proficiency certificate (such as TOEFL or IELTS) before the start of the Scholarship year. Additionally, familiarity with the local language is advantageous and/or required for certain interactions within the center. Specific language requirements for each ITI Scholarship Center are outlined in their respective descriptions on the ITI website.

29. Do I need to provide a CV?

No, a CV is not required when applying for the ITI Scholarship Program. All the necessary information will be collected during the online application process via the application tool.

28. What is a letter of recommendation

A letter of recommendation is a letter written and signed by an academic or professional who is familiar with your work and character. This letter should explain why the sender believes you should be awarded an ITI Scholarship and demonstrate their familiarity with your accomplishments, personality, and current aspirations. With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high, and candidates selected for an ITI Scholarship are expected to be willing to accept a place at a Scholarship Center that is not one of their three preferred Centers.

With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high.

24. To whom should my recommendation letters be addressed?

Recommendation letters should be addressed to the ITI Leadership Development Committee at ITI Headquarters in Basel and must be uploaded as a PDF during the online application process when requested. Do not send any separate attachments via email or conventional mail, as these will not be accepted. Additionally, ensure that recommendation letters are hand-signed and dated, and that they are dated from the year of application.

5. Do I need to apply via the ITI Scholarship online application portal?

Yes, only applications submitted via the online application portal and by the application deadline (i.e., the closing date and time of the application portal) will be accepted. Applications sent by email or regular post will not be accepted.

22. When will I be notified about the status of my application?

You can expect to receive notifications about the status of your application according to the following timeline: Usually, the first selected applicants will be informed by the end of January of the year following the application, along with the first round of unsuccessful applicants. The remaining applicants will receive notifications by the end of March. If you have not heard anything by then, this means you are on a contact list for last-minute cancellations. Please note that with hundreds of applications received each year, updates are not provided by ITI Headquarters. All applicants will be notified once their application status has been finalized. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application.


 

21. Will I definitely be allocated to one of the three ITI Scholarship Centers that I enter in my Scholarship application?

While efforts are made to allocate applicants to one of their preferred ITI Scholarship Centers as indicated in the application, placement is not guaranteed. With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high

20. Can I apply for a Scholarship Center in my current/home country?

Please note that as an international organization, Scholars will not be allocated to a center in their current/home country. The aim of the ITI Scholarship program is to provide ITI Scholars with an international experience, fostering international exchange along with professional networking as well as cross-cultural learning.

3. Do I have to complete and submit my application in one session?

No, you do not have to complete and submit the online application form in one session. You can save your progress and return to complete and submit the application at a later time. However, be mindful of the deadline and ensure you submit your application before the closing date and time of the application portal. Late applications and/or applications sent by email or regular post will not be accepted. The Scholarship application portal is available on the ITI website from May 31, midnight UTC until June 30, midnight UTC.

1. How can I apply for an ITI Scholarship?

To apply for an ITI Scholarship, please follow the link to the Scholarship application portal (available on the ITI website from May 31, midnight UTC until June 30, midnight UTC), log in, and fill in the required information. Your application can be completed over the course of the month of June and does not need to be completed in one sitting, provided it is not submitted. Once submitted, an application cannot be altered.

Can I submit an article for publication in Forum Implantologicum?

Generally, every half-year is devoted to a main topic agreed upon by the Editorial Board.

As a general rule, the articles in Forum Implantologicum are by invitation only. Nevertheless, individuals can submit articles for review and discussion by the Editorial Board.

Unsolicited articles can be submitted as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) via email to the editorial office at ITI Headquarters. They will be reviewed by the Editorial Board at its next meeting in order to determine their appropriateness for future publication. Authors will be notified of the Editorial Board’s decision after the meeting. As a matter of policy, the Editorial Board does not provide any reasons for not accepting submissions for publication.

Is the ITI Academy content for free?

How do I set up my course structure?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation of your Classroom administration. 'Blocks' will represent the events, modules, days, etc. that your course curriculum consists of. You can add as many blocks as you want by clicking the 'Add block' button. You can then assign Academy- or Custom resources to your blocks. 

I changed someone's data but the changes haven't been saved. What do I need to do?

If you change a person's data, save the changes using the button on the right-hand side of the page.

Where can I get technical support for my Campus/Classroom?

How do I become a Campus or Classroom Administrator?

Campus Administrator: This role can only be assigned by ITI Headquarters. Campus Admins have full administrative access to the Campus and all its Classrooms. Main tasks: Adding/managing Classrooms, assigning Classroom Admins, providing support to Classroom Admins and Faculty. 
Classroom Administrator: This role is assigned by the Campus Admin or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. 

What user roles exist in a Classroom and what are their permissions?

There are three user roles in a Classroom that are characterized by different objectives and permissions: Classroom Administrator, Classroom Faculty and Classroom Participant.

  • Classroom Administrators have full access to all administrative features of their Classroom and provide general technical support. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Campus Administrator or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content. Their main tasks are: Managing the Classroom Participants and their roles, managing the course structure and resources, managing the forum, tracking Classroom usage statistics and assessment performance. The Classroom Administrator role is optional if Faculty can cover its tasks.
  • Faculty is mainly an educational role. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content to prepare the course and to all the administrative features of their Classroom. Faculty is assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator and defines the course structure and the learning material to be used. They can also manage the forum and track Classroom access, usage statistics and assessment performance.
  • Classroom Participants have no administrative privileges in the Classrooms. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator, have viewing access to all Classroom resources, can download custom resources, can start threads and post on the Classroom forum. They can also share their Case Cloud Cases with the Classroom.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

To add people to your Classroom, click on 'Participants' in the navigation and then on the 'Import People' button. If you are importing people into this Classroom for the first time, download the Excel template by clicking the 'Download template' button. Open the template, read the instructions and enter all the necessary information. You can also add people later. All the fields are mandatory. If a row contains an empty field, the user will not be imported. The information in the 'Country*' column must match one of the countries exactly as it is listed in the template. Email addresses must be valid.
When adding users who are ITI Members, make sure to use the email address associated with their ITI membership to avoid duplicate accounts. The same goes for users who already have a free ITI Affiliate account. It is not possible to delete users. If you have added a user by mistake, please click the 'Deactivate' button for this user. Imported Participants have to confirm their email address to gain access to the system. Save the Excel file on your computer. In your 'Add Participants' dialog, click the 'Select list of participants...' button, choose the Excel file you have saved to your computer and click the 'OK' button. If you want to prevent the system from sending out email notifications informing people that they have been added to the classroom, then untick the corresponding check box. Important: Do not deactivate the notification unless all participants to be added are already active in other Classrooms on this Campus.

What is in the email that newly added participants receive?

Participants receive the following welcome email:

The Classroom administrator of the [name of Classroom] Classroom has added your email address to the list of participants.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

Add people to the classroom by entering them in the existing Excel list and uploading it again. The system will not import the same users twice. If you change a user’s email address in the list and upload it again, the system will create an additional account for this user or, if the new email address is already in the system, it will add the user to the classroom again with the existing account. Please make sure to deactivate the redundant account. If participants have not responded to the email verification message, you can resend the message to all unverified users by clicking on the 'Resend Verification Emails' button. 

How can I manage classroom participants and assign Administrator/Faculty roles?

Click on 'Participants' in the navigation to display the list of current participants in your classroom. You can switch between the lists of 'Active' and 'Deactivated' participants at the top of the page. You can assign/un-assign specific roles to/from individual users by checking/unchecking the following options: 
Faculty: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.' and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs
Administration: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.'  and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs 
Deactivated: User is removed from the Classroom but is still displayed under “Deactivated” 
No option chosen: User is an active Participant/Student and is listed in the corresponding section  
The color code indicates the status of your users at a glance: 
Green indicates that the user has validated the account by clicking the corresponding link in the confirmation email or that the user already had a valid account prior to being assigned to the classroom. He or she is therefore able to log into the Classroom. 
Red indicates that the user account has been created by the system but the user has not yet clicked on the confirmation link in the email he or she received. The user cannot log into the Classroom. 

How do I manage my course blocks?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation. After adding a block using the  'Add block' button, enter the title (mandatory) and a description for it, e.g. its date, time and duration. Save your entries by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page. In the 'blocks' list underneath the save button, you can change the sort order of your blocks using drag & drop or jump directly to a specific block in the administration to edit it. 
You can change the title, description or sort order of your course blocks anytime. If you want to delete a block, click the '-' icon on the right side of the title. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page.

What kind of resources can I add to the Classroom?

There are three types of resources that you can add:

  • Academy resources: E-Learning material from the ITI Academy
  • Custom resources: Your own files that you want to share with the Classroom participants
  • Weblink resources: Links to external sources, websites, file servers, etc. Recommended for, for example, large video files.

Case Cloud Cases cannot be assigned through the Classroom administration. They have to be shared with the Classroom by the author of the Case using the Case Cloud. Only members of a Classroom can share their Cases with it.

Where can I get payment confirmation for previous periods?

You can download payment confirmation for a previous period on the Settings page. Go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status, click on Show past invoices to access the Get payment confirmation link.

Can I generate a report for the assessments I carry out with the tool?

You can generate a PDF report of your case assessments at the end of the assessment process when the final case classification is displayed. Valid ITI membership is required to make use of this feature. Please log in before starting your assessment.

What are the benefits of participating in an ITI Education Weeks?

Participants benefit from:

What is a “Sort by Proximity”?

A “Sort by Proximity”  shows search results near your location based on your IP address.

What is the format of the final exam?

The final examination consists of 80 multiple choice questions to be completed in 90 minutes. Candidates need to answer at least 60% of the questions correctly in order to pass the exam and get ITI certification.

Do I have to anonymize patient data?

All diagnostic and clinical data (e.g. texts, images, videos) uploaded or submitted to our website are voluntary and any personal information relating to patients must be anonymized unless documented informed consent has previously been obtained from the patient (any recipient of health care services). You can find more information in the Terms of Use.

How can I cancel an event without informing the participants?

Search for the event you want to cancel and click on the event title.

You can cancel a published event by clicking on Cancel event. No notifications will be sent out.

If you want to inform the participants of the cancellation, first check the Send notifications box.

How can I edit published events?

Search for the event you want to edit and then open it:

  • change the general information
  • change the description
  • change the communication
  • change participants

and click on Save.

Click on Send update notifications if you want to inform the participants about the changes.  

Can I copy/paste text to my course block descriptions?

When pasting text from another application such as MS Word or from PDF files to the block description, you need to ensure that the text is stripped of all formatting information as this may cause the text to be displayed incorrectly. Formatting information can be removed by pasting the text into a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad or TextEdit on Mac. Select the whole text and choose ‘remove/clear all formatting’ before copying it into the block description. You can also use a free online tool for the same purpose (e.g. http://www.striphtml.com/). 

How and when are fellowship nominations approved?

The ITI Board of Directors decides on the  fellowship nominations received twice (Spring/Fall) a year.

What’s the registration fee for students?

Postgraduate students have a 50% discount on the regular membership fee.

Where can I download the ITI Treatment Guides?

We cannot provide electronic versions of the Treatment Guides for download. Log in to read them online in our e-library by clicking here.

Do I get print copies of previous Treatment Guides if I register as an ITI Member now?

No, you do not receive any print copies of the ITI Treatment Guide series. However, after registering as an ITI Member you benefit from a discount if you purchase the books from Quintessence. As an ITI Member, you can also access every volume of the Treatment Guide series in digital form in our e-library.

Are there any resources, presentations and tools available for ITI Speakers?

As an ITI Speaker, you have access to the Speaker Tools.

What is the duration of the hands-on program at Foundation level?

The hands-on program takes approximately 1 - 2 days.

What is the ‘Free preview’ feature that is displayed on certain learning items?

If you are not logged in or do not have the right to access a learning item, you can still watch a preview of it that will tell you what to expect in terms of content. E.g., you see the introductory slides of a learning module, including the learning objectives.

What profile information is visible to other ITI Members?

ITI Members who log in can see your network profile with your profile picture, title, degree, first name, last name, city, country, membership status (type, Member since), the number of awards earned, your affiliations and functions, your professional summary and detail about the awards earned.

Where can I get my payment confirmation?

I am an ITI Member. Is my ITI profile public?

No, not automatically. Your network profile is only accessible to ITI Members. You need to go to your public profile settings and check the box near the top of the page to make your profile accessible to the general public. Your public address, public profile email, public profile website, public profile phone number and the CV visible on the public profile will be accessible to the public.

Where can I get my ITI membership certificate?

You can download your ITI membership certificate on the Settings page. Please go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status you will find a Get membership certificate button.

How can I edit my profile?

Go to your Settings page and modify the information as required.

How do I add an ITI Member to my Study Club?

Go to "Add Members" and click on the button to add a person.

What do the icons under each persons data mean?

You can uncheck the box with "List in report" and then scroll to the end of the page and click on save.

When can I register for ITI Education Weeks that are taking place next year?

As soon as an ITI Education Week finishes we start to prepare for the following year. The registration link will be published on the website as soon as registration opens.

The name and address on my certificate/payment confirmation is not correct, where can I correct this?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page and amend your membership data first. Afterwards, the system automatically changes the pdf that is at the same time your membership certificate and your payment confirmation. You can download them as often as you need (back till 2016).

Can I visit an ITI congress in another country?

Yes, most ITI congresses are simultaneously translated into different languages. Please see the congress details to see the available languages.

What are my benefits as an ITI Fellow?

You are entitled to take on responsibility in ITI Sections and/or on international committees. In addition, you are invited to the Annual General Meeting and may submit motions and vote. You also get the opportunity to broaden your personal network with likeminded professionals as well as opinion leaders.

Where can I find the event details?

Click on the event title to display the event details and to be able to Request guest participation.

After registering, I could not complete the payment process. Who can help me?

Yes, ITI Members can participate in any Study Club. Please notify the Study Club Director about your participation to help facilitate his planning (room, AV, catering).

What does it mean if I see “email address already in use” when registering?

You already have a valid membership associated with this email address. The email address is a unique identifier for each membership. It cannot be used twice.

How often is the Section Handbook updated?

ITI Headquarters updates the Section Handbook twice a year. Changes to the ITI Articles, which are the basis for the Section Handbook, must be approved by the General Assembly during the spring meeting.

Where can I find more information on running an ITI Section ?

In Documents and Guidelines, ITI Headquarters maintains the Section Handbook, which provides detailed information on how Sections are supposed to be run. The handbook complements the ITI Articles.

How can I find an event?

Who can see my public profile?

If you make your public profile accessible to the public, every website visitor can see your profile.

It will show your name, your profile picture, your public address, public profile email, website and phone number, as well as your CV. You can change any and all of the information that is displayed by going to your public profile settings.

I am an ITI Academy author. Is my ITI profile public?

Yes, your profile is public because of your role as an ITI Academy author. You can change the information shown in your profile in Settings at any time.

What are Forum subscriptions?

If you subscribe to a forum in a given language, you will receive an email if a new post is uploaded to this forum. You will also see the newest forum threads from this forum on your My Community page. 

How can I add an ITI friend?

Find the person in our Directory of ITI Fellows and Members and click on + add friend. You can also go to the internal profile page of the person and click on Send friend request.

If you see Friend requested, your request is still pending. The person you requested to become your friend can accept or ignore your request. You will not be informed if your request is ignored.

If your request is accepted, you will see the person's activities in your Community Feed and you can send them messages.

How can I log out?

Click on Logout to log out.

I forgot my password. What can I do?

Do not contact us to retrieve your password. We cannot see any of our users' passwords in the system. Please request a password reset link here and follow the instructions.

How can I join an ITI Study Club?

Logged-in ITI Fellows and Members can join a Study Club in their area here. Non-Members should contact the Study Club Director and he or she will issue an invitation to a Study Club meeting as a guest.

How will I receive payment confirmation and my membership certificate?

For every membership payment made, the ITI website automatically sends payment confirmation and a membership certificate to the registered email address. It is also possible to download these documents from the ITI website. Go to your Settings page and then to Membership, Certificates & Billing.

How can I access my ITI partner account?

New accounts must use the "forgot Password" function here to set a password.

Where do I get the payment confirmation for my membership fee?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page, and switch to the Membership, Certificates & Billing page. Under Invoices & payment confirmations you can download all payment confirmations of all previously paid periods (back till 2016) by clicking Get payment confirmation.

Can I update my membership data?

Yes, you only need to log in and then you can change all personal data including the email address in your Settings area.

What are the professional requirements to become a Fellow?

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high level of activity in at least one of the following areas: Education, Research and/or Leadership in a professional dental organization. Please also check the Articles of the ITI.

What are the benefits of an ITI membership?

There are various membership benefits. The ITI’s mission is to serve the dental profession by providing a growing global network for life-long learning in implant dentistry through comprehensive quality education and innovative research to the benefit of the patient. Members benefit from discounts or free access to this network.

I registered for membership but cannot log in to the ITI website. The system tells me my email is in use but I have no access. What can I do?

When a new registration is received, the ITI website sends out an email with an activation link. Check your inbox (as well as spam and junk folders) for this email and click on the activation link. Your account has now been activated and you can log in to the ITI website.

You can use this link once only. If you need another activation link, click Resend Verification Email

Why did I not receive the verification email?

Click Resend Verification Email. Please also check your spam/junk email folder. Make sure your firewall or virus scanner is not blocking the email. Contact your email provider. If you still cannot receive emails from the ITI Website, use a different email address to register.

I want to become an ITI Member and join a Study Club. What do I need to do?

Register for membership, go to Study Clubs and choose a Study Club in your area. Before registration, you can view upcoming Study Club events in the Events search.

How do the Assessments work?

For every Learning Module, there is a corresponding Assessment. It consists of 20 questions that are randomly picked from a bigger question pool. You will see a new set of questions every time you take an Assessment. Upon finishing the Assessment, you can review your answers one by one and compare them with the correct solution for each question. You need to answer 60% of the questions correctly to pass.

You can check your scores, review your answers and complete Assessments you have not yet finished under My Academy at any time.

Can I improve my Assessment scores?

Yes. You can retake Assessments as many times as you like.

How can I start an Assessment?

Are there any prerequisites for taking an Assessment?

The Assessments in the ITI Academy are available to you at no charge and anytime – without having to complete a Learning Module first.

Is it possible to see an event invitation status?

There are three possible event invitation status corresponding to your settings in the event communication:

  1. Disabled: Invitation type Send nothing was selected
  2. Date displayed in green: Invitation was sent at this date
  3. Date displayed in red: Invitation date is set in the future

Where can I see the event participation status?

You can see the event participation status of each participant on the Participants page. The status is also included in the participant list download.

Possible participation status are:

  1. Accepted = the invitation was accepted.
  2. Declined = the invitation was declined.
  3. Unanswered = the invitation was delivered but the participant did not answer until now.
  4. None = the invitation was not delivered until now. For example when the send invitation date is not reached yet or the event is still in draft or cancel status.

I can't find the person, I am looking for. What can I do?

You can find a person by name, ID or email address. 

Who has access to the Guidelines & Templates area?

Access to this area is limited to specific functions within the ITI.

Where can I find the certificates of a member?

  1. Search the member and click on the member tile.
  2. Go to Certificates.
  3. Download the membership certificate or the Study Club certificate.

How can I edit draft events?

Compared to the option to edit a published event, draft events cannot be "cancelled" and you cannot send reminders for events that are not published yet either. Instead, you can publish the event and delete the draft event completely.

Who is an ITI Guest? Who is an Non-ITI Guest?

There are two types of Guests:

  • ITI Guests: ITI Members who are not member of your Section.
  • Non-ITI Guests: Users who do not have an ITI Membership. They can participate in two ITI Study Club events. After that, they need to become ITI Members in order to be able to participate in another event.

Who is in the Scope of an event?

All permanent members of the selected user group(s). New Members and Fellows in the system will be added to the participant scope dynamically.

Please note: Scopes will not be changeable after the event publication.

Can I upload a list of participants for an event?

To make the guest invitation easier you can upload a list with the title, first name, last name, email address and country of the guest. The system automatically allocates the new participants to the correct participant group based on the email address. Existing users in the system receive an event invitation email. Not existing users in the system first receive an email with the information that their contact data was stored.

Who can be a Guest Speaker?

ITI Members or users who do not have an ITI Membership. They will be displayed in the event invitations and on the events page after the event is published.

What is the invitation type of an event and how can I change it?

There are three invitation types for events:

  1. Send nothing: The event is published in the event calendar without any notification and without an accept/decline
  2. Send notification only: All participants receive an email notification without an accept/decline option
  3. Send invitation: All participants receive an email invitation and can accept/decline

The event invitation type can not be changed anymore after the event was published.

Where can I see an overview of the status of all events?

There are three different workflow status of events:

  1. Published: List of all upcoming events
  2. Draft: List of created events that have not been published yet
  3. Cancelled: List of events that were published but have been cancelled

If you want to see past events in a category, click on Show past events.

How can I create an event?

Click on + Create event. Enter the event name and select the event type. Click on Create event.

To publish your event take the steps listed:

What is a task?

Where can people see my author profile information?

As an ITI Academy author you have a public profile, on which author information as well as a statement on financial relationships and conflict of interests are displayed.

What happens if I unsubscribe from News subscriptions?

You can opt out of receiving promotional or marketing communications from us at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email communications we send, or adjusting the preferences in your account settings (restriction of processing).

If you have an account for our services, we may still send you non-promotional transactional communications, like service or membership-related emails.

What counts as an action?

Actions can be page views, internal site searches, downloads or outlinks.

Is there a basic ITI account and what can I do with it?

With an Affiliate account you can already use a wide variety of content and tools, like Assessments, the Consensus Database, etc. Plus, you have permanent access to all the content you have purchased, including free periodic updates to your Learning Modules that reflect the current state of research and scientific evidence.

I need a new password but cannot receive emails because I also changed my email address. I cannot open my old email account. What can I do?

Ask your Section Administrator or Study Club Director to contact us. If they can prove that you are an ITI Member and known to them, we will change your email address and send a password reset link to your new email.

Alternatively you can also send us your last membership certificate or payment confirmation.

I receive emails from the ITI website very irregularly. What's wrong?

If you only receive our newsletters and invitations on an irregular basis, your email provider is most likely temporarily blocking our emails. We send our emails over a management system with an excellent global reputation to avoid such problems as far as possible.

Today most emails are auto-scanned for possible spam content. For example, simple keywords like "tobacco" can trigger the classification of the sending domain as a spam domain and block it for a limited time. In such cases, you will receive emails from the ITI but sometimes they are blocked.

Unfortunately we can not track our emails after they are sent out to your provider's domain. We advise you to contact your provider for more information.

I do not receive any emails from the ITI website. What's wrong?

Please check the following points:

  1. Are your email settings in your personal profile up to date? Please check if the email address in your account is up to date and is spelled correctly.
  2. Did you receive ITI emails lately? If not, please change your email address in your profile settings. Some domain providers are blacklisted. Our provider blocks emails to these providers to protect us from spam replies or malware. Contact your internet service provider to solve this.
  3. Are ITI emails in your spam folder?
  4. Is your local computer blocking the emails due to strict firewall/virus scan settings or other safety measures. Please check your security settings or contact your local IT service.
  5. Did you accidentally unsubscribe from a newsletter you received from ITI.ORG, using the link at the bottom of a newsletter? If you wish to join the mailing list again, contact ITI Headquarters: [email protected].

Which browsers are supported?

To maximize compatibility across platforms and devices the ITI website is fully HTML5-based. Due to the sophisticated technology used and to avoid technical difficulties you are required to use one of the following browsers when accessing the ITI website:

Can I use the ITI website on all devices?

The ITI website works on all devices (PCs, tablets, smartphones) capable of running a fully HMTL5-compatible browser. The platform is designed to adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions. Please note that certain limitations may apply to devices with small screens (e.g. smartphones).

Can I use the ITI website offline?

You must be connected to the Internet to use the ITI website. Offline access is not possible.

What counts as a visit?

If a visitor comes to iti.org for the first time or if they visit a page more than 30 minutes after their last page view, this will be recorded as a new visit.

What is the bounce rate?

This is the percentage of visits that only had a single page view. This means that the visitor left the website directly from the entrance page.

46. What kind of financial support does an ITI Scholar receive?

Please refer to the information provided on the Scholarship program webpage for the stipend amounts that apply to the different ITI Scholarship Centers. The stipends reflect the cost of living in the city of the Scholarship Center. 

58. Are there possibilities for ITI Scholars to connect with past ITI Scholars who were at the same Center in preparation for their Scholarship year?

Yes, ITI Headquarters facilitates connections by sharing details of the previous Scholar who spent time at the Center a Scholar has been allocated to. This allows the Scholar to gather valuable insights and prepare for their new environment as well as the requirements of the Center. 

57. Are there language support services in regard to the language requirements of the ITI Scholarship Centers?

While ITI Scholarship Centers prioritize a professional environment, language support services are typically left up to the Scholar. Many Scholars take language courses, tutoring sessions, or language exchange programs to aid communication skills prior to and/or during the Scholarship year. Make sure to inform yourself of the Scholarship Center language requirements on the ITI website.

56. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. Please refer to the descriptions of the ITI Scholarship Centers on the ITI website for in-depth information on the activities during the Scholarship year.

55. Will I definitely be allocated to one of the preferred ITI Scholarship Centers that I enter in my Scholarship application?

While we strive to fulfill preferences, securing one of your preferred ITI Scholarship Centers is not guaranteed. With numerous applicants for limited spots, less than 10% of applicants are allocated to their preferred center. It's essential to remain flexible in your selection. Being open to different options enhances your chances of experiencing the program's benefits and furthering your professional development.

54. What is required of the ITI Scholars after the Scholarship year?

The ITI encourages ITI Scholars to continue their engagement with the ITI community beyond their Scholarship year. We anticipate that Scholars will find fulfilling paths within the ITI community, allowing them to further their professional and personal development and contribute to the collective knowledge and exertise of our global network. Furthermore, upon their return to their home Section after the Scholarship year ITI Scholars should contact their Section Leadership Team to get involved in the Section’s activities. 

53. Do I have to pay tax on my Scholarship stipend?

Scholars should be mindful of potential tax obligations and seek guidance from both local authorities and their Scholarship Center Chair. 

52. Do I have to open a bank account in the country of my Scholarship Center to receive the Scholarship stipend?

That is left up to the Scholar. The stipend can also be deposited in an account belonging to the Scholar in his or her country of residence. However, we recommend opening an account in the host country in order to avoid bank charges and currency exchange fluctuations.

49. When is the financial support paid?

The stipend is  paid in two installments. The first installment is provided at the beginning of the Scholarship year, once the ITI Scholarship Center Chair confirms the Scholar's arrival at the Center. The second installment is given after six months, following the provision of the the Scholar's intermediate report to ITI Headquarters. The stipend is meant to support the Scholar for expenses such as accommodation and other cost of living and will be transferred to an account held by the ITI Scholar by ITI Headquarters. 

48. Is additional financial aid available for ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship?

Each year, the ITI offers additional financial aid to a maximum of 5 ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship and do not have sufficient means to cover their living expenses. To be considered for this support, candidates applying for additional financial aid are requested to provide detailed information about their financial situation, including their own and their parents' circumstances.

47. Does the financial support cover the cost of living and accommodation in full?

No, this is not the case. It contributes toward the cost of living and accommodation during the ITI Scholarship year. We advise applicants to consider their preferred centers/locations carefully, as certain destinations are very expensive. It is essential to understand that the stipend will not cover all the living costs in those locations. We encourage thorough consideration to ensure a comfortable and sustainable experience during the program. 

45. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. Please refer to the descriptions of the ITI Scholarship Centers on the ITI website for in-depth information on the activities during the Scholarship year.

44. Do I need insurance cover during the Scholarship year?

Yes. Each ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing his or her own health insurance for the ITI Scholarship year. Additionally, professional liability insurance is crucial and must be covered by the Scholar in order to participate in the program. If no reciprocal arrangement is available between the home country and the ITI Scholarship Center country, the ITI Scholar should take out additional health cover to ensure comprehensive protection during the Scholarship year. Scholars are advised to discuss all matters related to insurance matters with their Scholarship Center Chair right after confirmation of their ITI Scholarship to make sure insurance cover is in place in time for the start of the Scholarship year.

43. Is there help/support available when it comes to finding accommodation for the Scholarship year?

ITI Scholars will be put in contact with previous Scholars at their Center for tips and recommendations as to how to find accommodation. Scholars are also encouraged to to seek guidance from the administrative team/faculty at the Scholarship Center as to finding accommodation. Some Centers might offer on-campus accommodation for Scholars.

42. Can my partner/family accompany me on my Scholarship year?

The decision to have your partner or family accompany you on your Scholarship year is entirely up to you. However, it's important to note that the stipend provided is intended solely for the living costs of the Scholar and does not extend to accompanying family members. The ITI does not provide additional contributions beyond the stipend itself. The ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing any additional requirements for family members, such as visas, health insurance, and work/practice permits, if applicable.

 

41. Who covers travel costs to and from the ITI Scholarship Center country?

ITI Scholars are responsible for organizing and paying their travel costs. The ITI Scholarship stipend is transferred only after the ITI Scholar has officially started the ITI Scholarship year – upon confirmation of arrival by the Scholarship Center Chair. Therefore, Scholars need to be prepared to finance the flight to their Scholarship country out of their own pocket.

40. Who takes care of my travel arrangements to and from my Scholarship Center country?

Scholars are responsible for making their own their travel arrangements.

39. Do I have to start my Scholarship year on September 1?

Yes, each ITI Scholar is expected to start the Scholarship year on September 1 or on the first day of the month on which the Scholarship year starts for those Scholarship Centers with a different start date. The start dates specified in the descriptions of the Scholarship Centers must be adhered to within a two-week timeframe.

38. When does the ITI Scholarship year start?

The ITI Scholarship year commences September 1 of the year following the application and concludes August 31 of the subsequent year. For instance, if you apply for the Scholarship in June 2025, your Scholarship year will begin September 1, 2026, and conclude August 31, 2027. There are a couple of exceptions to this schedule for specific Scholarship Centers, which are detailed in the respective Scholarship Center descriptions on the ITI website.

37. If I am offered a place at an ITI Scholarship Center I do not want to go to and turn the offer down, will I be allocated to one of my preferred Scholarship Centers?

With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high. Therefore, candidates selected for an ITI Scholarship are expected to be willing to accept a place at a Scholarship Center that is not one of their three preferred Centers.

36. Can I find out why I was not accepted for an ITI Scholarship?

With the high volume of applications received annually, the ITI Leadership Development Committee does not provide specific reasons for its decisions as a matter of policy.

35. Can I contact ITI Headquarters to enquire about the status of my application?

Every applicant will be contacted by ITI Headquarters. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application. Due to the high number of applications received each year and the long timelines associated with the evaluation process of the applications, applicants are asked not to enquire about the status of their application.

19. Are there any restrictions on nationality for applying to the ITI Scholarship Program?

No, there are no restrictions on nationality for applying to the ITI Scholarship Program. The program is open to applicants of all nationalities.

34. When will I hear back from ITI Headquarters about my application?

Applicants will hear back from ITI Headquarters by the end of March of the year following their application at the latest.

18. If I sign up for ITI membership before I apply and don’t get an ITI Scholarship, will my ITI membership fee be refunded?

No, ITI membership is non-refundable.

33. What are the timelines associated with the application and selection process?

17. Should I send my documentation to ITI Headquarters?

No, do not send any application-related documents to ITI Headquarters. Documents sent by email or regular post will not be accepted. All required information and documents must be submitted through the online application portal. This ensures that the necessary details are correctly processed and reviewed.

16. Can I apply if I am not fluent in English?

Yes. Proficiency in English is important for communicating with ITI Headquarters, Scholarship applications, and within the greater ITI community; however, fluency is not mandatory. Language prerequisites and certification differ among ITI Scholarship Centers, as some Centers may not use English as their main language. Please refer to the specific language requirements on the ITI website.

14. I am working on my PhD. Can I do the ITI Scholarship program simultaneously?

No, this is not an option as ITI Scholars are expected to dedicate all their time to the ITI Scholarship. Therefore, PhDs must be finalized before the start of the ITI Scholarship. The same applies to other conflicting responsibilities such as functions in your host clinic, Scholarships from other organizations, family commitments in your home country, etc.

32. What is the selection process for ITI Scholarships?

Once the application portal has closed on the last day of June, all submitted applications undergo screening at ITI Headquarters. The ITI Leadership Development Committee completes a detailed evaluation of each application that meets the application requirements and rates each of the applications over the following months. Yes, you can apply for an ITI Scholarship while you are still in postgraduate training. However, your postgraduate training must be completed by the start date of your Scholarship year.

12. Does an age limit apply for ITI Scholarship applicants?

Yes, candidates must be 37 years or younger at the time of application. For example, if you turn 38 on or after July 1 of the application year, you are not eligible to apply. Please ensure you meet this age requirement along with all other eligibility criteria outlined on the ITI website.

30. What documents do I need to submit with my application?

The documents below need to be uploaded during the online application process. These documents, except for the picture, must be signed by hand, saved as PDFs, and uploaded to the application profile:

• Two signed letters of recommendation: The recommendations must be recent (year of application) and ideally made by a professor, ITI Fellow, or similar. Please note that only recommendation letters signed by hand will be accepted.

• A picture (passport format - JPG, minimum size 140 x 185 pixels).

The remaining applicants will receive notifications by the end of March. If you have not heard anything by then, this means you are on a contact list for last-minute cancellations. Please note that with hundreds of applications received each year, updates are not provided by ITI Headquarters. All applicants will be notified once their application status has been finalized. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application.

Unsolicited articles can be submitted as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) via email to the editorial office at ITI Headquarters. They will be reviewed by the Editorial Board at its next meeting in order to determine their appropriateness for future publication. Authors will be notified of the Editorial Board’s decision after the meeting. As a matter of policy, the Editorial Board does not provide any reasons for not accepting submissions for publication.

How do I set up my course structure?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation of your Classroom administration. 'Blocks' will represent the events, modules, days, etc. that your course curriculum consists of. You can add as many blocks as you want by clicking the 'Add block' button. You can then assign Academy- or Custom resources to your blocks. 

I changed someone's data but the changes haven't been saved. What do I need to do?

If you change a person's data, save the changes using the button on the right-hand side of the page.

How do I become a Campus or Classroom Administrator?

Campus Administrator: This role can only be assigned by ITI Headquarters. Campus Admins have full administrative access to the Campus and all its Classrooms. Main tasks: Adding/managing Classrooms, assigning Classroom Admins, providing support to Classroom Admins and Faculty. 
Classroom Administrator: This role is assigned by the Campus Admin or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. 

What user roles exist in a Classroom and what are their permissions?

There are three user roles in a Classroom that are characterized by different objectives and permissions: Classroom Administrator, Classroom Faculty and Classroom Participant.

  • Classroom Administrators have full access to all administrative features of their Classroom and provide general technical support. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Campus Administrator or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content. Their main tasks are: Managing the Classroom Participants and their roles, managing the course structure and resources, managing the forum, tracking Classroom usage statistics and assessment performance. The Classroom Administrator role is optional if Faculty can cover its tasks.
  • Faculty is mainly an educational role. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content to prepare the course and to all the administrative features of their Classroom. Faculty is assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator and defines the course structure and the learning material to be used. They can also manage the forum and track Classroom access, usage statistics and assessment performance.
  • Classroom Participants have no administrative privileges in the Classrooms. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator, have viewing access to all Classroom resources, can download custom resources, can start threads and post on the Classroom forum. They can also share their Case Cloud Cases with the Classroom.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

To add people to your Classroom, click on 'Participants' in the navigation and then on the 'Import People' button. If you are importing people into this Classroom for the first time, download the Excel template by clicking the 'Download template' button. Open the template, read the instructions and enter all the necessary information. You can also add people later. All the fields are mandatory. If a row contains an empty field, the user will not be imported. The information in the 'Country*' column must match one of the countries exactly as it is listed in the template. Email addresses must be valid.
When adding users who are ITI Members, make sure to use the email address associated with their ITI membership to avoid duplicate accounts. The same goes for users who already have a free ITI Affiliate account. It is not possible to delete users. If you have added a user by mistake, please click the 'Deactivate' button for this user. Imported Participants have to confirm their email address to gain access to the system. Save the Excel file on your computer. In your 'Add Participants' dialog, click the 'Select list of participants...' button, choose the Excel file you have saved to your computer and click the 'OK' button. If you want to prevent the system from sending out email notifications informing people that they have been added to the classroom, then untick the corresponding check box. Important: Do not deactivate the notification unless all participants to be added are already active in other Classrooms on this Campus.

What is in the email that newly added participants receive?

How can I add people to my Classroom?

Add people to the classroom by entering them in the existing Excel list and uploading it again. The system will not import the same users twice. If you change a user’s email address in the list and upload it again, the system will create an additional account for this user or, if the new email address is already in the system, it will add the user to the classroom again with the existing account. Please make sure to deactivate the redundant account. If participants have not responded to the email verification message, you can resend the message to all unverified users by clicking on the 'Resend Verification Emails' button. 

How can I manage classroom participants and assign Administrator/Faculty roles?

Click on 'Participants' in the navigation to display the list of current participants in your classroom. You can switch between the lists of 'Active' and 'Deactivated' participants at the top of the page. You can assign/un-assign specific roles to/from individual users by checking/unchecking the following options: 
Faculty: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.' and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs
Administration: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.'  and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs 
Deactivated: User is removed from the Classroom but is still displayed under “Deactivated” 
No option chosen: User is an active Participant/Student and is listed in the corresponding section  
The color code indicates the status of your users at a glance: 
Green indicates that the user has validated the account by clicking the corresponding link in the confirmation email or that the user already had a valid account prior to being assigned to the classroom. He or she is therefore able to log into the Classroom. 
Red indicates that the user account has been created by the system but the user has not yet clicked on the confirmation link in the email he or she received. The user cannot log into the Classroom. 

How do I manage my course blocks?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation. After adding a block using the  'Add block' button, enter the title (mandatory) and a description for it, e.g. its date, time and duration. Save your entries by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page. In the 'blocks' list underneath the save button, you can change the sort order of your blocks using drag & drop or jump directly to a specific block in the administration to edit it. 
You can change the title, description or sort order of your course blocks anytime. If you want to delete a block, click the '-' icon on the right side of the title. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page.

What kind of resources can I add to the Classroom?

There are three types of resources that you can add:

  • Academy resources: E-Learning material from the ITI Academy
  • Custom resources: Your own files that you want to share with the Classroom participants
  • Weblink resources: Links to external sources, websites, file servers, etc. Recommended for, for example, large video files.

Case Cloud Cases cannot be assigned through the Classroom administration. They have to be shared with the Classroom by the author of the Case using the Case Cloud. Only members of a Classroom can share their Cases with it.

Where can I get payment confirmation for previous periods?

You can download payment confirmation for a previous period on the Settings page. Go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status, click on Show past invoices to access the Get payment confirmation link.

Can I generate a report for the assessments I carry out with the tool?

You can generate a PDF report of your case assessments at the end of the assessment process when the final case classification is displayed. Valid ITI membership is required to make use of this feature. Please log in before starting your assessment.

What is the format of the final exam?

The final examination consists of 80 multiple choice questions to be completed in 90 minutes. Candidates need to answer at least 60% of the questions correctly in order to pass the exam and get ITI certification.

Do I have to anonymize patient data?

All diagnostic and clinical data (e.g. texts, images, videos) uploaded or submitted to our website are voluntary and any personal information relating to patients must be anonymized unless documented informed consent has previously been obtained from the patient (any recipient of health care services). You can find more information in the Terms of Use.

How can I cancel an event without informing the participants?

Search for the event you want to cancel and click on the event title.

You can cancel a published event by clicking on Cancel event. No notifications will be sent out.

If you want to inform the participants of the cancellation, first check the Send notifications box.

How can I edit published events?

Search for the event you want to edit and then open it:

  • change the general information
  • change the description
  • change the communication
  • change participants

and click on Save.

Click on Send update notifications if you want to inform the participants about the changes.  

Can I copy/paste text to my course block descriptions?

When pasting text from another application such as MS Word or from PDF files to the block description, you need to ensure that the text is stripped of all formatting information as this may cause the text to be displayed incorrectly. Formatting information can be removed by pasting the text into a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad or TextEdit on Mac. Select the whole text and choose ‘remove/clear all formatting’ before copying it into the block description. You can also use a free online tool for the same purpose (e.g. http://www.striphtml.com/). 

How and when are fellowship nominations approved?

The ITI Board of Directors decides on the  fellowship nominations received twice (Spring/Fall) a year.

What’s the registration fee for students?

No, not automatically. Your network profile is only accessible to ITI Members. Your public address, public profile email, public profile website, public profile phone number and the CV visible on the public profile will be accessible to the public.

Where can I get my ITI membership certificate?

If I don't want to list a budget of a certain study club in the report, what do I need to do?

You can uncheck the box with "List in report" and then scroll to the end of the page and click on save.

When can I register for ITI Education Weeks that are taking place next year?

As soon as an ITI Education Week finishes we start to prepare for the following year. The registration link will be published on the website as soon as registration opens.

The name and address on my certificate/payment confirmation is not correct, where can I correct this?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page and amend your membership data first. Afterwards, the system automatically changes the pdf that is at the same time your membership certificate and your payment confirmation. You can download them as often as you need (back till 2016).

Can I visit an ITI congress in another country?

Yes, most ITI congresses are simultaneously translated into different languages. Please see the congress details to see the available languages.

What are my benefits as an ITI Fellow?

You are entitled to take on responsibility in ITI Sections and/or on international committees. In addition, you are invited to the Annual General Meeting and may submit motions and vote. You also get the opportunity to broaden your personal network with likeminded professionals as well as opinion leaders.

ITI Headquarters updates the Section Handbook twice a year. Changes to the ITI Articles, which are the basis for the Section Handbook, must be approved by the General Assembly during the spring meeting.

If you make your public profile accessible to the public, every website visitor can see your profile.

Find the person in our Directory of ITI Fellows and Members and click on + add friend. You can also go to the internal profile page of the person and click on Send friend request.

If you see Friend requested, your request is still pending. The person you requested to become your friend can accept or ignore your request. You will not be informed if your request is ignored.

If your request is accepted, you will see the person's activities in your Community Feed and you can send them messages.

There are various membership benefits. I registered for membership but cannot log in to the ITI website. The system tells me my email is in use but I have no access. What can I do?

When a new registration is received, the ITI website sends out an email with an activation link. Check your inbox (as well as spam and junk folders) for this email and click on the activation link. Your account has now been activated and you can log in to the ITI website.

You can use this link once only. If you need another activation link, click Resend Verification Email

Why did I not receive the verification email?

Click Resend Verification Email. Please also check your spam/junk email folder. Make sure your firewall or virus scanner is not blocking the email. Contact your email provider. If you still cannot receive emails from the ITI Website, use a different email address to register.

I want to become an ITI Member and join a Study Club. What do I need to do?

Register for membership, go to Study Clubs and choose a Study Club in your area. Before registration, you can view upcoming Study Club events in the Events search.

How do the Assessments work?

For every Learning Module, there is a corresponding Assessment. It consists of 20 questions that are randomly picked from a bigger question pool. You will see a new set of questions every time you take an Assessment. Upon finishing the Assessment, you can review your answers one by one and compare them with the correct solution for each question. You need to answer 60% of the questions correctly to pass.

You can check your scores, review your answers and complete Assessments you have not yet finished under My Academy at any time.

Can I improve my Assessment scores?

Yes. You can retake Assessments as many times as you like.

How can I start an Assessment?

Are there any prerequisites for taking an Assessment?

There are three possible event invitation status corresponding to your settings in the event communication:

  1. Disabled: Invitation type Send nothing was selected
  2. Date displayed in green: Invitation was sent at this date
  3. Date displayed in red: Invitation date is set in the future

Where can I see the event participation status?

You can see the event participation status of each participant on the Participants page. The status is also included in the participant list download.

Possible participation status are:

  1. Accepted = the invitation was accepted.
  2. Declined = the invitation was declined.
  3. Unanswered = the invitation was delivered but the participant did not answer until now.
  4. None = the invitation was not delivered until now. For example when the send invitation date is not reached yet or the event is still in draft or cancel status.

I can't find the person, I am looking for. What can I do?

You can find a person by name, ID or email address. 

Who has access to the Guidelines & Templates area?

Access to this area is limited to specific functions within the ITI.

Where can I find the certificates of a member?

  1. Search the member and click on the member tile.
  2. Go to Certificates.
  3. Download the membership certificate or the Study Club certificate.

How can I edit draft events?

Compared to the option to edit a published event, draft events cannot be "cancelled" and you cannot send reminders for events that are not published yet either. Instead, you can publish the event and delete the draft event completely.

Who is an ITI Guest? Who is an Non-ITI Guest?

There are two types of Guests:

  • ITI Guests: ITI Members who are not member of your Section.
  • Non-ITI Guests: Users who do not have an ITI Membership. They can participate in two ITI Study Club events. After that, they need to become ITI Members in order to be able to participate in another event.

Who is in the Scope of an event?

All permanent members of the selected user group(s). New Members and Fellows in the system will be added to the participant scope dynamically.

Please note: Scopes will not be changeable after the event publication.

Can I upload a list of participants for an event?

To make the guest invitation easier you can upload a list with the title, first name, last name, email address and country of the guest. The system automatically allocates the new participants to the correct participant group based on the email address. Existing users in the system receive an event invitation email. Not existing users in the system first receive an email with the information that their contact data was stored.

Who can be a Guest Speaker?

ITI Members or users who do not have an ITI Membership. They will be displayed in the event invitations and on the events page after the event is published.

What is the invitation type of an event and how can I change it?

There are three invitation types for events:

  1. Send nothing: The event is published in the event calendar without any notification and without an accept/decline
  2. Send notification only: All participants receive an email notification without an accept/decline option
  3. Send invitation: All participants receive an email invitation and can accept/decline

The event invitation type can not be changed anymore after the event was published.

Where can I see an overview of the status of all events?

There are three different workflow status of events:

  1. Published: List of all upcoming events
  2. Draft: List of created events that have not been published yet
  3. Cancelled: List of events that were published but have been cancelled

If you want to see past events in a category, click on Show past events.

How can I create an event?

Click on + Create event. Enter the event name and select the event type. Click on Create event.

As an ITI Academy author you have a public profile, on which author information as well as a statement on financial relationships and conflict of interests are displayed.

What happens if I unsubscribe from News subscriptions?

You can opt out of receiving promotional or marketing communications from us at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email communications we send, or adjusting the preferences in your account settings (restriction of processing).

If you have an account for our services, we may still send you non-promotional transactional communications, like service or membership-related emails.

What counts as an action?

Actions can be page views, internal site searches, downloads or outlinks.

Is there a basic ITI account and what can I do with it?

With an Affiliate account you can already use a wide variety of content and tools, like Assessments, the Consensus Database, etc. Plus, you have permanent access to all the content you have purchased, including free periodic updates to your Learning Modules that reflect the current state of research and scientific evidence.

I need a new password but cannot receive emails because I also changed my email address. I cannot open my old email account. What can I do?

Ask your Section Administrator or Study Club Director to contact us. If they can prove that you are an ITI Member and known to them, we will change your email address and send a password reset link to your new email.

Alternatively you can also send us your last membership certificate or payment confirmation.

I receive emails from the ITI website very irregularly. What's wrong?

If you only receive our newsletters and invitations on an irregular basis, your email provider is most likely temporarily blocking our emails. We send our emails over a management system with an excellent global reputation to avoid such problems as far as possible.

Today most emails are auto-scanned for possible spam content. For example, simple keywords like "tobacco" can trigger the classification of the sending domain as a spam domain and block it for a limited time. In such cases, you will receive emails from the ITI but sometimes they are blocked.

Unfortunately we can not track our emails after they are sent out to your provider's domain. We advise you to contact your provider for more information.

I do not receive any emails from the ITI website. What's wrong?

Please check the following points:

  1. Are your email settings in your personal profile up to date? Please check if the email address in your account is up to date and is spelled correctly.
  2. Did you receive ITI emails lately? If not, please change your email address in your profile settings. Some domain providers are blacklisted. Our provider blocks emails to these providers to protect us from spam replies or malware. Contact your internet service provider to solve this.
  3. Are ITI emails in your spam folder?
  4. Is your local computer blocking the emails due to strict firewall/virus scan settings or other safety measures. Please check your security settings or contact your local IT service.
  5. Did you accidentally unsubscribe from a newsletter you received from ITI.ORG, using the link at the bottom of a newsletter? If you wish to join the mailing list again, contact ITI Headquarters: [email protected].

To maximize compatibility across platforms and devices the ITI website is fully HTML5-based. Due to the sophisticated technology used and to avoid technical difficulties you are required to use one of the following browsers when accessing the ITI website:

Many Scholars take language courses, tutoring sessions, or language exchange programs to aid communication skills prior to and/or during the Scholarship year. Make sure to inform yourself of the Scholarship Center language requirements on the ITI website.

56. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. Please refer to the descriptions of the ITI Scholarship Centers on the ITI website for in-depth information on the activities during the Scholarship year.

55. Will I definitely be allocated to one of the preferred ITI Scholarship Centers that I enter in my Scholarship application?

While we strive to fulfill preferences, securing one of your preferred ITI Scholarship Centers is not guaranteed. With numerous applicants for limited spots, less than 10% of applicants are allocated to their preferred center. It's essential to remain flexible in your selection. Being open to different options enhances your chances of experiencing the program's benefits and furthering your professional development.

54. What is required of the ITI Scholars after the Scholarship year?

The ITI encourages ITI Scholars to continue their engagement with the ITI community beyond their Scholarship year. We anticipate that Scholars will find fulfilling paths within the ITI community, allowing them to further their professional and personal development and contribute to the collective knowledge and exertise of our global network. Furthermore, upon their return to their home Section after the Scholarship year ITI Scholars should contact their Section Leadership Team to get involved in the Section’s activities. 

53. Do I have to pay tax on my Scholarship stipend?

Scholars should be mindful of potential tax obligations and seek guidance from both local authorities and their Scholarship Center Chair. 

52. Do I have to open a bank account in the country of my Scholarship Center to receive the Scholarship stipend?

That is left up to the Scholar. The stipend can also be deposited in an account belonging to the Scholar in his or her country of residence. However, we recommend opening an account in the host country in order to avoid bank charges and currency exchange fluctuations.

49. When is the financial support paid?

The stipend is  paid in two installments. The first installment is provided at the beginning of the Scholarship year, once the ITI Scholarship Center Chair confirms the Scholar's arrival at the Center. The second installment is given after six months, following the provision of the the Scholar's intermediate report to ITI Headquarters. The stipend is meant to support the Scholar for expenses such as accommodation and other cost of living and will be transferred to an account held by the ITI Scholar by ITI Headquarters. 

48. Is additional financial aid available for ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship?

Each year, the ITI offers additional financial aid to a maximum of 5 ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship and do not have sufficient means to cover their living expenses. To be considered for this support, candidates applying for additional financial aid are requested to provide detailed information about their financial situation, including their own and their parents' circumstances.

47. Does the financial support cover the cost of living and accommodation in full?

No, this is not the case. It contributes toward the cost of living and accommodation during the ITI Scholarship year. We advise applicants to consider their preferred centers/locations carefully, as certain destinations are very expensive. It is essential to understand that the stipend will not cover all the living costs in those locations. We encourage thorough consideration to ensure a comfortable and sustainable experience during the program. 

45. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

Treating patients during the Scholarship year is not guaranteed for all Scholars. Opportunities for clinical practice depend on various factors, including local regulations, the Scholar’s skill level, and the specific policies of the ITI Scholarship Center. 44. Do I need insurance cover during the Scholarship year?

Yes. Each ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing his or her own health insurance for the ITI Scholarship year. Additionally, professional liability insurance is crucial and must be covered by the Scholar in order to participate in the program. If no reciprocal arrangement is available between the home country and the ITI Scholarship Center country, the ITI Scholar should take out additional health cover to ensure comprehensive protection during the Scholarship year. Scholars are advised to discuss all matters related to insurance matters with their Scholarship Center Chair right after confirmation of their ITI Scholarship to make sure insurance cover is in place in time for the start of the Scholarship year.

43. Is there help/support available when it comes to finding accommodation for the Scholarship year?

ITI Scholars will be put in contact with previous Scholars at their Center for tips and recommendations as to how to find accommodation. Scholars are also encouraged to to seek guidance from the administrative team/faculty at the Scholarship Center as to finding accommodation. Some Centers might offer on-campus accommodation for Scholars.

42. Can my partner/family accompany me on my Scholarship year?

The decision to have your partner or family accompany you on your Scholarship year is entirely up to you. However, it's important to note that the stipend provided is intended solely for the living costs of the Scholar and does not extend to accompanying family members. The ITI does not provide additional contributions beyond the stipend itself. The ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing any additional requirements for family members, such as visas, health insurance, and work/practice permits, if applicable.

 

41. Who covers travel costs to and from the ITI Scholarship Center country?

ITI Scholars are responsible for organizing and paying their travel costs. The ITI Scholarship stipend is transferred only after the ITI Scholar has officially started the ITI Scholarship year – upon confirmation of arrival by the Scholarship Center Chair. Therefore, Scholars need to be prepared to finance the flight to their Scholarship country out of their own pocket.

40. Who takes care of my travel arrangements to and from my Scholarship Center country?

Scholars are responsible for making their own their travel arrangements.

39. Do I have to start my Scholarship year on September 1?

Yes, each ITI Scholar is expected to start the Scholarship year on September 1 or on the first day of the month on which the Scholarship year starts for those Scholarship Centers with a different start date. With numerous applicants for limited spots, less than 10% of applicants are allocated to their preferred center. It's essential to remain flexible in your selection. Being open to different options enhances your chances of experiencing the program's benefits and furthering your professional development.

54. What is required of the ITI Scholars after the Scholarship year?

The ITI encourages ITI Scholars to continue their engagement with the ITI community beyond their Scholarship year. We anticipate that Scholars will find fulfilling paths within the ITI community, allowing them to further their professional and personal development and contribute to the collective knowledge and exertise of our global network. Furthermore, upon their return to their home Section after the Scholarship year ITI Scholars should contact their Section Leadership Team to get involved in the Section’s activities. 

53. Do I have to pay tax on my Scholarship stipend?

Scholars should be mindful of potential tax obligations and seek guidance from both local authorities and their Scholarship Center Chair. 

52. Do I have to open a bank account in the country of my Scholarship Center to receive the Scholarship stipend?

That is left up to the Scholar. The stipend can also be deposited in an account belonging to the Scholar in his or her country of residence. However, we recommend opening an account in the host country in order to avoid bank charges and currency exchange fluctuations.

49. When is the financial support paid?

The stipend is  paid in two installments. The first installment is provided at the beginning of the Scholarship year, once the ITI Scholarship Center Chair confirms the Scholar's arrival at the Center. The second installment is given after six months, following the provision of the the Scholar's intermediate report to ITI Headquarters. The stipend is meant to support the Scholar for expenses such as accommodation and other cost of living and will be transferred to an account held by the ITI Scholar by ITI Headquarters. 

48. Is additional financial aid available for ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship?

Each year, the ITI offers additional financial aid to a maximum of 5 ITI Scholars who find themselves in hardship and do not have sufficient means to cover their living expenses. To be considered for this support, candidates applying for additional financial aid are requested to provide detailed information about their financial situation, including their own and their parents' circumstances.

47. Does the financial support cover the cost of living and accommodation in full?

No, this is not the case. It contributes toward the cost of living and accommodation during the ITI Scholarship year. We advise applicants to consider their preferred centers/locations carefully, as certain destinations are very expensive. It is essential to understand that the stipend will not cover all the living costs in those locations. We encourage thorough consideration to ensure a comfortable and sustainable experience during the program. 

45. Will I be able to treat patients during my Scholarship year?

44. Do I need insurance cover during the Scholarship year?

Yes. Each ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing his or her own health insurance for the ITI Scholarship year. Additionally, professional liability insurance is crucial and must be covered by the Scholar in order to participate in the program. If no reciprocal arrangement is available between the home country and the ITI Scholarship Center country, the ITI Scholar should take out additional health cover to ensure comprehensive protection during the Scholarship year. Scholars are advised to discuss all matters related to insurance matters with their Scholarship Center Chair right after confirmation of their ITI Scholarship to make sure insurance cover is in place in time for the start of the Scholarship year.

43. Is there help/support available when it comes to finding accommodation for the Scholarship year?

ITI Scholars will be put in contact with previous Scholars at their Center for tips and recommendations as to how to find accommodation. Scholars are also encouraged to to seek guidance from the administrative team/faculty at the Scholarship Center as to finding accommodation. Some Centers might offer on-campus accommodation for Scholars.

42. Can my partner/family accompany me on my Scholarship year?

The decision to have your partner or family accompany you on your Scholarship year is entirely up to you. However, it's important to note that the stipend provided is intended solely for the living costs of the Scholar and does not extend to accompanying family members. The ITI does not provide additional contributions beyond the stipend itself. The ITI Scholar is responsible for organizing any additional requirements for family members, such as visas, health insurance, and work/practice permits, if applicable.

 

41. Who covers travel costs to and from the ITI Scholarship Center country?

ITI Scholars are responsible for organizing and paying their travel costs. The ITI Scholarship stipend is transferred only after the ITI Scholar has officially started the ITI Scholarship year – upon confirmation of arrival by the Scholarship Center Chair. Therefore, Scholars need to be prepared to finance the flight to their Scholarship country out of their own pocket.

40. Who takes care of my travel arrangements to and from my Scholarship Center country?

Scholars are responsible for making their own their travel arrangements.

39. Do I have to start my Scholarship year on September 1?

Yes, each ITI Scholar is expected to start the Scholarship year on September 1 or on the first day of the month on which the Scholarship year starts for those Scholarship Centers with a different start date. The start dates specified in the descriptions of the Scholarship Centers must be adhered to within a two-week timeframe.

38. When does the ITI Scholarship year start?

The ITI Scholarship year commences September 1 of the year following the application and concludes August 31 of the subsequent year. For instance, if you apply for the Scholarship in June 2025, your Scholarship year will begin September 1, 2026, and conclude August 31, 2027. There are a couple of exceptions to this schedule for specific Scholarship Centers, which are detailed in the respective Scholarship Center descriptions on the ITI website.

37. If I am offered a place at an ITI Scholarship Center I do not want to go to and turn the offer down, will I be allocated to one of my preferred Scholarship Centers?

With several hundred applicants and only limited places, the competition for each ITI Scholarship Center place is high. Therefore, candidates selected for an ITI Scholarship are expected to be willing to accept a place at a Scholarship Center that is not one of their three preferred Centers.

36. Can I find out why I was not accepted for an ITI Scholarship?

With the high volume of applications received annually, the ITI Leadership Development Committee does not provide specific reasons for its decisions as a matter of policy.

35. Can I contact ITI Headquarters to enquire about the status of my application?

Every applicant will be contacted by ITI Headquarters. This may take until the end of March of the year following the application. Due to the high number of applications received each year and the long timelines associated with the evaluation process of the applications, applicants are asked not to enquire about the status of their application.

Yes. Proficiency in English is important for communicating with ITI Headquarters, Scholarship applications, and within the greater ITI community; however, fluency is not mandatory. Language prerequisites and certification differ among ITI Scholarship Centers, as some Centers may not use English as their main language. Please refer to the specific language requirements on the ITI website.

14. I am working on my PhD. Can I do the ITI Scholarship program simultaneously?

No, this is not an option as ITI Scholars are expected to dedicate all their time to the ITI Scholarship. Therefore, PhDs must be finalized before the start of the ITI Scholarship. The same applies to other conflicting responsibilities such as functions in your host clinic, Scholarships from other organizations, family commitments in your home country, etc.

32. What is the selection process for ITI Scholarships?

Once the application portal has closed on the last day of June, all submitted applications undergo screening at ITI Headquarters. The ITI Leadership Development Committee completes a detailed evaluation of each application that meets the application requirements and rates each of the applications over the following months. 13. Can I apply for an ITI Scholarship while I am still a postgraduate?

Yes, you can apply for an ITI Scholarship while you are still in postgraduate training. However, your postgraduate training must be completed by the start date of your Scholarship year.

12. Does an age limit apply for ITI Scholarship applicants?

Yes, candidates must be 37 years or younger at the time of application. For example, if you turn 38 on or after July 1 of the application year, you are not eligible to apply. Please ensure you meet this age requirement along with all other eligibility criteria outlined on the ITI website.

Generally, every half-year is devoted to a main topic agreed upon by the Editorial Board.

As a general rule, the articles in Forum Implantologicum are by invitation only. Nevertheless, individuals can submit articles for review and discussion by the Editorial Board.

Unsolicited articles can be submitted as a Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) via email to the editorial office at ITI Headquarters. They will be reviewed by the Editorial Board at its next meeting in order to determine their appropriateness for future publication. Authors will be notified of the Editorial Board’s decision after the meeting. As a matter of policy, the Editorial Board does not provide any reasons for not accepting submissions for publication.

How do I become a Campus or Classroom Administrator?

Campus Administrator: This role can only be assigned by ITI Headquarters. Campus Admins have full administrative access to the Campus and all its Classrooms. Main tasks: Adding/managing Classrooms, assigning Classroom Admins, providing support to Classroom Admins and Faculty. 
Classroom Administrator: This role is assigned by the Campus Admin or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. 

What user roles exist in a Classroom and what are their permissions?

There are three user roles in a Classroom that are characterized by different objectives and permissions: Classroom Administrator, Classroom Faculty and Classroom Participant.

  • Classroom Administrators have full access to all administrative features of their Classroom and provide general technical support. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Campus Administrator or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content. Their main tasks are: Managing the Classroom Participants and their roles, managing the course structure and resources, managing the forum, tracking Classroom usage statistics and assessment performance. The Classroom Administrator role is optional if Faculty can cover its tasks.
  • Faculty is mainly an educational role. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content to prepare the course and to all the administrative features of their Classroom. Faculty is assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator and defines the course structure and the learning material to be used. They can also manage the forum and track Classroom access, usage statistics and assessment performance.
  • Classroom Participants have no administrative privileges in the Classrooms. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator, have viewing access to all Classroom resources, can download custom resources, can start threads and post on the Classroom forum. They can also share their Case Cloud Cases with the Classroom.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

To add people to your Classroom, click on 'Participants' in the navigation and then on the 'Import People' button. If you are importing people into this Classroom for the first time, download the Excel template by clicking the 'Download template' button. Open the template, read the instructions and enter all the necessary information. You can also add people later. All the fields are mandatory. If a row contains an empty field, the user will not be imported. The information in the 'Country*' column must match one of the countries exactly as it is listed in the template. Email addresses must be valid.
When adding users who are ITI Members, make sure to use the email address associated with their ITI membership to avoid duplicate accounts. The same goes for users who already have a free ITI Affiliate account. It is not possible to delete users. If you have added a user by mistake, please click the 'Deactivate' button for this user. Imported Participants have to confirm their email address to gain access to the system. Save the Excel file on your computer. In your 'Add Participants' dialog, click the 'Select list of participants...' button, choose the Excel file you have saved to your computer and click the 'OK' button. If you want to prevent the system from sending out email notifications informing people that they have been added to the classroom, then untick the corresponding check box. Important: Do not deactivate the notification unless all participants to be added are already active in other Classrooms on this Campus.

What is in the email that newly added participants receive?

Participants receive the following welcome email:

Dear [name of participant]

Welcome to the [name of Campus or ITI Section].

The Classroom administrator of the [name of Classroom] Classroom has added your email address to the list of participants.

Follow the steps below to access your Classroom in the ITI Academy:

1. Click on this link [link to confirmation/password setup] to confirm your email address and set your password (you can skip this step if you already have a valid ITI login)

How can I add people to my Classroom?

Add people to the classroom by entering them in the existing Excel list and uploading it again. The system will not import the same users twice. If you change a user’s email address in the list and upload it again, the system will create an additional account for this user or, if the new email address is already in the system, it will add the user to the classroom again with the existing account. Please make sure to deactivate the redundant account. If participants have not responded to the email verification message, you can resend the message to all unverified users by clicking on the 'Resend Verification Emails' button. 

How can I manage classroom participants and assign Administrator/Faculty roles?

Click on 'Participants' in the navigation to display the list of current participants in your classroom. You can switch between the lists of 'Active' and 'Deactivated' participants at the top of the page. You can assign/un-assign specific roles to/from individual users by checking/unchecking the following options: 
Faculty: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.' and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs
Administration: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.'  and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs 
Deactivated: User is removed from the Classroom but is still displayed under “Deactivated” 
No option chosen: User is an active Participant/Student and is listed in the corresponding section  
The color code indicates the status of your users at a glance: 
Green indicates that the user has validated the account by clicking the corresponding link in the confirmation email or that the user already had a valid account prior to being assigned to the classroom. He or she is therefore able to log into the Classroom. 
Red indicates that the user account has been created by the system but the user has not yet clicked on the confirmation link in the email he or she received. The user cannot log into the Classroom. 

How do I manage my course blocks?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation. After adding a block using the  'Add block' button, enter the title (mandatory) and a description for it, e.g. its date, time and duration. Save your entries by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page. In the 'blocks' list underneath the save button, you can change the sort order of your blocks using drag & drop or jump directly to a specific block in the administration to edit it. 
You can change the title, description or sort order of your course blocks anytime. If you want to delete a block, click the '-' icon on the right side of the title. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page.

What kind of resources can I add to the Classroom?

There are three types of resources that you can add:

  • Academy resources: E-Learning material from the ITI Academy
  • Custom resources: Your own files that you want to share with the Classroom participants
  • Weblink resources: Links to external sources, websites, file servers, etc. Recommended for, for example, large video files.

Case Cloud Cases cannot be assigned through the Classroom administration. They have to be shared with the Classroom by the author of the Case using the Case Cloud. Only members of a Classroom can share their Cases with it.

Where can I get payment confirmation for previous periods?

You can download payment confirmation for a previous period on the Settings page. Go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status, click on Show past invoices to access the Get payment confirmation link.

Can I generate a report for the assessments I carry out with the tool?

You can generate a PDF report of your case assessments at the end of the assessment process when the final case classification is displayed. Valid ITI membership is required to make use of this feature. Please log in before starting your assessment.

What are the benefits of participating in an ITI Education Weeks?

What is a “Sort by Proximity”?

A “Sort by Proximity”  shows search results near your location based on your IP address.

What is the format of the final exam?

The final examination consists of 80 multiple choice questions to be completed in 90 minutes. Candidates need to answer at least 60% of the questions correctly in order to pass the exam and get ITI certification.

Do I have to anonymize patient data?

All diagnostic and clinical data (e.g. texts, images, videos) uploaded or submitted to our website are voluntary and any personal information relating to patients must be anonymized unless documented informed consent has previously been obtained from the patient (any recipient of health care services). You can find more information in the Terms of Use.

How can I cancel an event without informing the participants?

Search for the event you want to cancel and click on the event title.

You can cancel a published event by clicking on Cancel event. No notifications will be sent out.

If you want to inform the participants of the cancellation, first check the Send notifications box.

How can I edit published events?

Search for the event you want to edit and then open it:

  • change the general information
  • change the description
  • change the communication
  • change participants

and click on Save.

Click on Send update notifications if you want to inform the participants about the changes.  

Can I copy/paste text to my course block descriptions?

When pasting text from another application such as MS Word or from PDF files to the block description, you need to ensure that the text is stripped of all formatting information as this may cause the text to be displayed incorrectly. Formatting information can be removed by pasting the text into a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad or TextEdit on Mac. Select the whole text and choose ‘remove/clear all formatting’ before copying it into the block description. You can also use a free online tool for the same purpose (e.g. http://www.striphtml.com/). 

How and when are fellowship nominations approved?

The ITI Board of Directors decides on the  fellowship nominations received twice (Spring/Fall) a year.

What’s the registration fee for students?

Postgraduate students have a 50% discount on the regular membership fee.

Where can I download the ITI Treatment Guides?

We cannot provide electronic versions of the Treatment Guides for download. Log in to read them online in our e-library by clicking here.

Do I get print copies of previous Treatment Guides if I register as an ITI Member now?

No, you do not receive any print copies of the ITI Treatment Guide series. However, after registering as an ITI Member you benefit from a discount if you purchase the books from Quintessence. As an ITI Member, you can also access every volume of the Treatment Guide series in digital form in our e-library.

Are there any resources, presentations and tools available for ITI Speakers?

As an ITI Speaker, you have access to the Speaker Tools.

What is the duration of the hands-on program at Foundation level?

The hands-on program takes approximately 1 - 2 days.

What is the ‘Free preview’ feature that is displayed on certain learning items?

If you are not logged in or do not have the right to access a learning item, you can still watch a preview of it that will tell you what to expect in terms of content. E.g., you see the introductory slides of a learning module, including the learning objectives.

What profile information is visible to other ITI Members?

ITI Members who log in can see your network profile with your profile picture, title, degree, first name, last name, city, country, membership status (type, Member since), the number of awards earned, your affiliations and functions, your professional summary and detail about the awards earned.

Where can I get my payment confirmation?

You can download your payment confirmation on the Settings page. Please go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status you will find a Get payment confirmation link.

I am an ITI Member. Is my ITI profile public?

No, not automatically. Your network profile is only accessible to ITI Members. You need to go to your public profile settings and check the box near the top of the page to make your profile accessible to the general public. Your public address, public profile email, public profile website, public profile phone number and the CV visible on the public profile will be accessible to the public.

Where can I get my ITI membership certificate?

You can download your ITI membership certificate on the Settings page. Please go to Membership, Certificates & Billing. Under membership status you will find a Get membership certificate button.

How can I edit my profile?

Go to your Settings page and modify the information as required.

How do I add an ITI Member to my Study Club?

Go to "Add Members" and click on the button to add a person.

What do the icons under each persons data mean?

The first icon shows the membership status. The second icon shows the membership mode. And the last icon shows the modifier of the membership (C = classic membership, D = digital membership, A = Affiliate).

Where can I see what type of membership a person has?

You can see this information under each persons data as an icon (D, C or A).

If I don't want to list a budget of a certain study club in the report, what do I need to do?

You can uncheck the box with "List in report" and then scroll to the end of the page and click on save.

When can I register for ITI Education Weeks that are taking place next year?

As soon as an ITI Education Week finishes we start to prepare for the following year. The registration link will be published on the website as soon as registration opens.

The name and address on my certificate/payment confirmation is not correct, where can I correct this?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page and amend your membership data first. Afterwards, the system automatically changes the pdf that is at the same time your membership certificate and your payment confirmation. You can download them as often as you need (back till 2016).

Can I visit an ITI congress in another country?

Yes, most ITI congresses are simultaneously translated into different languages. Please see the congress details to see the available languages.

What are my benefits as an ITI Fellow?

You are entitled to take on responsibility in ITI Sections and/or on international committees. In addition, you are invited to the Annual General Meeting and may submit motions and vote. You also get the opportunity to broaden your personal network with likeminded professionals as well as opinion leaders.

Where can I find the event details?

Click on the event title to display the event details and to be able to Request guest participation.

After registering, I could not complete the payment process. Who can help me?

Can I participate in Study Clubs in other countries, e.g. during holidays?

Yes, ITI Members can participate in any Study Club. Please notify the Study Club Director about your participation to help facilitate his planning (room, AV, catering).

What does it mean if I see “email address already in use” when registering?

You already have a valid membership associated with this email address. The email address is a unique identifier for each membership. It cannot be used twice.

How often is the Section Handbook updated?

ITI Headquarters updates the Section Handbook twice a year. Changes to the ITI Articles, which are the basis for the Section Handbook, must be approved by the General Assembly during the spring meeting.

Where can I find more information on running an ITI Section ?

In Documents and Guidelines, ITI Headquarters maintains the Section Handbook, which provides detailed information on how Sections are supposed to be run. The handbook complements the ITI Articles.

How can I find an event?

The Events Search page offers an overview of all upcoming ITI events and courses. It includes Section and Study Club events as well as Education Courses.

Who can see my public profile?

If you make your public profile accessible to the public, every website visitor can see your profile.

It will show your name, your profile picture, your public address, public profile email, website and phone number, as well as your CV. You can change any and all of the information that is displayed by going to your public profile settings.

I am an ITI Academy author. Is my ITI profile public?

Yes, your profile is public because of your role as an ITI Academy author. You can change the information shown in your profile in Settings at any time.

What are Forum subscriptions?

If you subscribe to a forum in a given language, you will receive an email if a new post is uploaded to this forum. You will also see the newest forum threads from this forum on your My Community page. 

How can I add an ITI friend?

Find the person in our Directory of ITI Fellows and Members and click on + add friend. You can also go to the internal profile page of the person and click on Send friend request.

If you see Friend requested, your request is still pending. The person you requested to become your friend can accept or ignore your request. You will not be informed if your request is ignored.

If your request is accepted, you will see the person's activities in your Community Feed and you can send them messages.

How can I log out?

Click on Logout to log out.

I forgot my password. What can I do?

Do not contact us to retrieve your password. We cannot see any of our users' passwords in the system. Please request a password reset link here and follow the instructions.

How do I log in to my ITI account?

Locate the Login area. Enter your email address and password and click on the Log in button.

How can I change my registered email address?

Locate the Login area. Log in and go to the Settings page. There you can change your registered email address.

How can I leave or change my ITI Study Club?

If you want to change your ITI Study Club, the first step is to leave your current ITI Study Club. To leave your ITI Study Club, click on Leave Study Club on your My Community page.

The ITI Study Club Director of your current ITI Study Club will be informed by email that you have left the ITI Study Club.

How can I join an ITI Study Club?

Logged-in ITI Fellows and Members can join a Study Club in their area here. Non-Members should contact the Study Club Director and he or she will issue an invitation to a Study Club meeting as a guest.

How will I receive payment confirmation and my membership certificate?

For every membership payment made, the ITI website automatically sends payment confirmation and a membership certificate to the registered email address. It is also possible to download these documents from the ITI website. Go to your Settings page and then to Membership, Certificates & Billing.

How can I access my ITI partner account?

New accounts must use the "forgot Password" function here to set a password.

Where do I get the payment confirmation for my membership fee?

You need to log in, go to the Settings page, and switch to the Membership, Certificates & Billing page. Under Invoices & payment confirmations you can download all payment confirmations of all previously paid periods (back till 2016) by clicking Get payment confirmation.

Can I update my membership data?

Yes, you only need to log in and then you can change all personal data including the email address in your Settings area.

What are the professional requirements to become a Fellow?

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high level of activity in at least one of the following areas: Education, Research and/or Leadership in a professional dental organization. Please also check the Articles of the ITI.

What are the benefits of an ITI membership?

There are various membership benefits. The ITI’s mission is to serve the dental profession by providing a growing global network for life-long learning in implant dentistry through comprehensive quality education and innovative research to the benefit of the patient. Members benefit from discounts or free access to this network.

I registered for membership but cannot log in to the ITI website. The system tells me my email is in use but I have no access. What can I do?

When a new registration is received, the ITI website sends out an email with an activation link. Check your inbox (as well as spam and junk folders) for this email and click on the activation link. Your account has now been activated and you can log in to the ITI website.

You can use this link once only. If you need another activation link, click Resend Verification Email

Why did I not receive the verification email?

Click Resend Verification Email. Please also check your spam/junk email folder. Make sure your firewall or virus scanner is not blocking the email. Contact your email provider. If you still cannot receive emails from the ITI Website, use a different email address to register.

I want to become an ITI Member and join a Study Club. What do I need to do?

Register for membership, go to Study Clubs and choose a Study Club in your area. Before registration, you can view upcoming Study Club events in the Events search.

What can be found under Theory & Principles?

Theory & Principles covers the two content formats Learning Module and Congress Lecture, providing the theoretical foundation for success in clinical practice.

Where can I find treatment examples in the Academy?

Clinical Applications comprises Clinical Cases and Clinical Videos on a broad range of clinical case types and demonstrates their management in clinical practice.

How do the Assessments work?

For every Learning Module, there is a corresponding Assessment. It consists of 20 questions that are randomly picked from a bigger question pool. You will see a new set of questions every time you take an Assessment. Upon finishing the Assessment, you can review your answers one by one and compare them with the correct solution for each question. You need to answer 60% of the questions correctly to pass.

You can check your scores, review your answers and complete Assessments you have not yet finished under My Academy at any time.

Can I improve my Assessment scores?

Yes. You can retake Assessments as many times as you like.

How can I start an Assessment?

Go to the details page of an Assessment and click on Start.

Are there any prerequisites for taking an Assessment?

The Assessments in the ITI Academy are available to you at no charge and anytime – without having to complete a Learning Module first.

Is the range of Assessments provided complete?

The range of Assessments provided is not complete and will be continuously expanded as the content scope of the ITI Academy grows.

Where can I see my previous Assessment scores?

Go to My Academy and Recently accessed to see an overview of all the Assessments you have started or completed. Here, you can also check your scores, review your answers and complete Assessments you have not yet finished.

How can I add a Speaker?

Find the person your are looking for and click on the tile to go to the details of the person.

You can activate/deactivate the Speaker status on the Speaker Profile page.

Where can I find the ITI Online Curriculum Foundation level classroom?

After registration for the ITI Online Curriculum Foundation level, you can find the ITI Online Curriculum Foundation level classroom in your My Academy.

Is it possible to see an event invitation status?

There are three possible event invitation status corresponding to your settings in the event communication:

  1. Disabled: Invitation type Send nothing was selected
  2. Date displayed in green: Invitation was sent at this date
  3. Date displayed in red: Invitation date is set in the future

Where can I see the event participation status?

You can see the event participation status of each participant on the Participants page. The status is also included in the participant list download.

Possible participation status are:

  1. Accepted = the invitation was accepted.
  2. Declined = the invitation was declined.
  3. Unanswered = the invitation was delivered but the participant did not answer until now.
  4. None = the invitation was not delivered until now. For example when the send invitation date is not reached yet or the event is still in draft or cancel status.

I can't find the person, I am looking for. What can I do?

You can find a person by name, ID or email address. 

Who has access to the Guidelines & Templates area?

Access to this area is limited to specific functions within the ITI.

Where can I find the certificates of a member?

  1. Search the member and click on the member tile.
  2. Go to Certificates.
  3. Download the membership certificate or the Study Club certificate.

How can I edit draft events?

Compared to the option to edit a published event, draft events cannot be "cancelled" and you cannot send reminders for events that are not published yet either. Instead, you can publish the event and delete the draft event completely.

Who is an ITI Guest? Who is an Non-ITI Guest?

There are two types of Guests:

  • ITI Guests: ITI Members who are not member of your Section.
  • Non-ITI Guests: Users who do not have an ITI Membership. They can participate in two ITI Study Club events. After that, they need to become ITI Members in order to be able to participate in another event.

Who is in the Scope of an event?

All permanent members of the selected user group(s). New Members and Fellows in the system will be added to the participant scope dynamically.

Please note: Scopes will not be changeable after the event publication.

Can I upload a list of participants for an event?

To make the guest invitation easier you can upload a list with the title, first name, last name, email address and country of the guest. The system automatically allocates the new participants to the correct participant group based on the email address. Existing users in the system receive an event invitation email. Not existing users in the system first receive an email with the information that their contact data was stored.

Who can be a Guest Speaker?

ITI Members or users who do not have an ITI Membership. They will be displayed in the event invitations and on the events page after the event is published.

What is the invitation type of an event and how can I change it?

There are three invitation types for events:

  1. Send nothing: The event is published in the event calendar without any notification and without an accept/decline
  2. Send notification only: All participants receive an email notification without an accept/decline option
  3. Send invitation: All participants receive an email invitation and can accept/decline

The event invitation type can not be changed anymore after the event was published.

Where can I see an overview of the status of all events?

There are three different workflow status of events:

  1. Published: List of all upcoming events
  2. Draft: List of created events that have not been published yet
  3. Cancelled: List of events that were published but have been cancelled

If you want to see past events in a category, click on Show past events.

How can I create an event?

Click on + Create event. Enter the event name and select the event type. Click on Create event.

To publish your event take the steps listed:

  1. Set a date
  2. Enter your venue
  3. Select scopes
  4. Update communication settings

Where can I see my open tasks?

You can see your open tasks on your My Messages & Tasks page.

What is a task?

A task refers to steps that still need to be completed for which you receive a system-generated reminder.

Where can I see my leadership group(s)?

You can see your leadership group(s) on your My Leadership page.

Where can people see my author profile information?

As an ITI Academy author you have a public profile, on which author information as well as a statement on financial relationships and conflict of interests are displayed.

What happens if I unsubscribe from News subscriptions?

You can opt out of receiving promotional or marketing communications from us at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email communications we send, or adjusting the preferences in your account settings (restriction of processing).

If you have an account for our services, we may still send you non-promotional transactional communications, like service or membership-related emails.

What counts as an action?

Actions can be page views, internal site searches, downloads or outlinks.

Is there a basic ITI account and what can I do with it?

With an Affiliate account you can already use a wide variety of content and tools, like Assessments, the Consensus Database, etc. Plus, you have permanent access to all the content you have purchased, including free periodic updates to your Learning Modules that reflect the current state of research and scientific evidence.

I need a new password but cannot receive emails because I also changed my email address. I cannot open my old email account. What can I do?

Ask your Section Administrator or Study Club Director to contact us. If they can prove that you are an ITI Member and known to them, we will change your email address and send a password reset link to your new email.

Alternatively you can also send us your last membership certificate or payment confirmation.

I receive emails from the ITI website very irregularly. What's wrong?

If you only receive our newsletters and invitations on an irregular basis, your email provider is most likely temporarily blocking our emails. We send our emails over a management system with an excellent global reputation to avoid such problems as far as possible.

Today most emails are auto-scanned for possible spam content. For example, simple keywords like "tobacco" can trigger the classification of the sending domain as a spam domain and block it for a limited time. In such cases, you will receive emails from the ITI but sometimes they are blocked.

Unfortunately we can not track our emails after they are sent out to your provider's domain. We advise you to contact your provider for more information.

I do not receive any emails from the ITI website. What's wrong?

Please check the following points:

  1. Are your email settings in your personal profile up to date? Please check if the email address in your account is up to date and is spelled correctly.
  2. Did you receive ITI emails lately? If not, please change your email address in your profile settings. Some domain providers are blacklisted. Our provider blocks emails to these providers to protect us from spam replies or malware. Contact your internet service provider to solve this.
  3. Are ITI emails in your spam folder?
  4. Is your local computer blocking the emails due to strict firewall/virus scan settings or other safety measures. Please check your security settings or contact your local IT service.

Which browsers are supported?

To maximize compatibility across platforms and devices the ITI website is fully HTML5-based. Due to the sophisticated technology used and to avoid technical difficulties you are required to use one of the following browsers when accessing the ITI website:

  • Safari
  • Chrome
  • Firefox

Can I use the ITI website on all devices?

The ITI website works on all devices (PCs, tablets, smartphones) capable of running a fully HMTL5-compatible browser. The platform is designed to adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions. Please note that certain limitations may apply to devices with small screens (e.g. smartphones).

Can I use the ITI website offline?

You must be connected to the Internet to use the ITI website. Offline access is not possible.

What counts as a visit?

If a visitor comes to iti.org for the first time or if they visit a page more than 30 minutes after their last page view, this will be recorded as a new visit.

What is the bounce rate?

This is the percentage of visits that only had a single page view. This means that the visitor left the website directly from the entrance page.

What is Avg. time (s)?

The average duration of a visit in seconds.

How can I cancel an event without informing the participants?

Search for the event you want to cancel and click on the event title.

You can cancel a published event by clicking on Cancel event. No notifications will be sent out.

How do I set up my course structure?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation of your Classroom administration. 'Blocks' will represent the events, modules, days, etc. that your course curriculum consists of. You can add as many blocks as you want by clicking the 'Add block' button. You can then assign Academy- or Custom resources to your blocks.

How do I manage my course blocks?

Click on 'Course' in the navigation. After adding a block using the  'Add block' button, enter the title (mandatory) and a description for it, e.g. its date, time and duration. Save your entries by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page. In the 'blocks' list underneath the save button, you can change the sort order of your blocks using drag & drop or jump directly to a specific block in the administration to edit it. 
You can change the title, description or sort order of your course blocks anytime. If you want to delete a block, click the '-' icon on the right side of the title. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking the 'Save' button in the top right corner of the page.

What kind of resources can I add to the Classroom?

There are three types of resources that you can add:

  • Academy resources: E-Learning material from the ITI Academy
  • Custom resources: Your own files that you want to share with the Classroom participants
  • Weblink resources: Links to external sources, websites, file servers, etc. Recommended for, for example, large video files.

Case Cloud Cases cannot be assigned through the Classroom administration. They have to be shared with the Classroom by the author of the Case using the Case Cloud. Only members of a Classroom can share their Cases with it.

Can I copy/paste text to my course block descriptions?

When pasting text from another application such as MS Word or from PDF files to the block description, you need to ensure that the text is stripped of all formatting information as this may cause the text to be displayed incorrectly. Formatting information can be removed by pasting the text into a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad or TextEdit on Mac. Select the whole text and choose ‘remove/clear all formatting’ before copying it into the block description. You can also use a free online tool for the same purpose (e.g. http://www.striphtml.com/).

What user roles exist in a Classroom and what are their permissions?

There are three user roles in a Classroom that are characterized by different objectives and permissions: Classroom Administrator, Classroom Faculty and Classroom Participant.

  • Classroom Administrators have full access to all administrative features of their Classroom and provide general technical support. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Campus Administrator or an already existing Classroom Admin in the relevant classroom. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content. Their main tasks are: Managing the Classroom Participants and their roles, managing the course structure and resources, managing the forum, tracking Classroom usage statistics and assessment performance. The Classroom Administrator role is optional if Faculty can cover its tasks.
  • Faculty is mainly an educational role. They have full access to all ITI Academy e-learning content to prepare the course and to all the administrative features of their Classroom. Faculty is assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator and defines the course structure and the learning material to be used. They can also manage the forum and track Classroom access, usage statistics and assessment performance.
  • Classroom Participants have no administrative privileges in the Classrooms. They are assigned to the Classroom by the Classroom Administrator, have viewing access to all Classroom resources, can download custom resources, can start threads and post on the Classroom forum. They can also share their Case Cloud Cases with the Classroom.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

To add people to your Classroom, click on 'Participants' in the navigation and then on the 'Import People' button. If you are importing people into this Classroom for the first time, download the Excel template by clicking the 'Download template' button. Open the template, read the instructions and enter all the necessary information. You can also add people later. All the fields are mandatory. If a row contains an empty field, the user will not be imported. The information in the 'Country*' column must match one of the countries exactly as it is listed in the template. Email addresses must be valid.
When adding users who are ITI Members, make sure to use the email address associated with their ITI membership to avoid duplicate accounts. The same goes for users who already have a free ITI Affiliate account. It is not possible to delete users. If you have added a user by mistake, please click the 'Deactivate' button for this user. Imported Participants have to confirm their email address to gain access to the system. Save the Excel file on your computer. In your 'Add Participants' dialog, click the 'Select list of participants...' button, choose the Excel file you have saved to your computer and click the 'OK' button. If you want to prevent the system from sending out email notifications informing people that they have been added to the classroom, then untick the corresponding check box. Important: Do not deactivate the notification unless all participants to be added are already active in other Classrooms on this Campus.

What is in the email that newly added participants receive?

Participants receive the following welcome email:

Dear [name of participant]

Welcome to the [name of Campus or ITI Section].

The Classroom administrator of the [name of Classroom] Classroom has added your email address to the list of participants.

Follow the steps below to access your Classroom in the ITI Academy:

1. Click on this link [link to confirmation/password setup] to confirm your email address and set your password (you can skip this step if you already have a valid ITI login)

2. Bookmark the Classroom [link to Classroom]

Alternatively, you can find your Classroom by choosing "My Academy" in your personal navigation (profile icon in the top-right corner) on www.iti.org.

You now have full access to all resources and features of the [name of Classroom] Classroom.

How can I add people to my Classroom?

Add people to the classroom by entering them in the existing Excel list and uploading it again. The system will not import the same users twice. If you change a user’s email address in the list and upload it again, the system will create an additional account for this user or, if the new email address is already in the system, it will add the user to the classroom again with the existing account. Please make sure to deactivate the redundant account. If participants have not responded to the email verification message, you can resend the message to all unverified users by clicking on the 'Resend Verification Emails' button. 

How can I manage classroom participants and assign Administrator/Faculty roles?

Click on 'Participants' in the navigation to display the list of current participants in your classroom. You can switch between the lists of 'Active' and 'Deactivated' participants at the top of the page. You can assign/un-assign specific roles to/from individual users by checking/unchecking the following options: 
Faculty: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.' and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs
Administration: User will be listed under 'Faculty & Admin.'  and has permission to manage the Classroom using the functions described in these FAQs 
Deactivated: User is removed from the Classroom but is still displayed under “Deactivated” 
No option chosen: User is an active Participant/Student and is listed in the corresponding section  
The color code indicates the status of your users at a glance: 
Green indicates that the user has validated the account by clicking the corresponding link in the confirmation email or that the user already had a valid account prior to being assigned to the classroom. He or she is therefore able to log into the Classroom. 
Red indicates that the user account has been created by the system but the user has not yet clicked on the confirmation link in the email he or she received. The user cannot log into the Classroom.
