This is a one-day course with both lectures and practical elements to help nurses learn the practical basics of dental implant nursing. The course will be held in a clinical environment to help transfer the skills learnt from the course into practice. During the course we will cover the following:

· Hand hygiene· Donning and doffing – different techniques

· Instrument care – post op clear down/waste management

· Zoning and surgery set up

· Aseptic set up training

· Implant placement – drill sequence

· Motor set up – overcoming common errors

· Nursing for patient assessment

· Contraindications

· Patient discussions and FAQS – post op care calls. Pre op questions

· Restorative training – after the placement- what is next- appointment sequencing

At the end of the course, we will provide you with a certificate for the CPD completed on the course.

Aims

• For delegates to have a good understanding of implant dentistry and the role of a dental nurse throughout implant treatment.
• To use the skills learnt on the course to be able assist both the dentist and the patient throughout implant treatment, both before and after surgery.
