Extractions are the final step of various dental treatment that we perform to mantain masticatory function.

Trauma, deep caries, root canal treatment failure, apical pathology, cysts, fractures and deep pockets are the reason of teeth extraction to eliminate the discomfort and inflammation to patients.

But if we can be satisfied of the treatment that give our patient a "healthy" condition with no inflammation and no pain, in the other hand we know that we will have bone resorption that will influence our final treatment plan.

Bone resorption is a physiological event that can be influenced with some conservative technique.

Alveolar ridge preservation techniques are not difficult and can give good results specially using the proper biomaterials.

Different bone substitute have been tested and among these the hydroxyapatite an beta-TCP have been used.

Characteristics of different biomaterials and their structure highly influence clinical results and histological findings.

In the extraction socket is possible to apply ridge preservation procedure that include use of grafting materials with or without membrane. The membranes can be resorbable or non resorbable depending on the situation.

Five and more years follow up will be shown.
