About the Scholarship Center
The Department of Oral Implantology at West China Hospital of Stomatology is the first dental implant clinical, scientific research, and teaching base established in the country. It is currently one of the three National Key Clinical Specialty Centers in Implantology approved nationwide. The Department has a strong technical staff and practices an advanced level of medical treatment. It runs several National and Ministry of Health projects and also receives provincial and municipal science and technology funding.
ITI Scholars will participate in the whole treatment flow under staff supervision. Scholars have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary treatment sessions and are welcome to take part in seminars or journal clubs with postgraduate students. A team approach is taken in clinical services and the program will be arranged as far as possible with the needs of the candidates in mind.
Overview of clinical activities during the Scholarship year
The ITI Scholar will participate in the following clinical activities:
Treatment planning sessions
Observing clinical patient treatment
Assisting in patient treatment
Carrying out oral hygiene procedures
Treating patients under supervision:
- placing implants
- restoring implants
- hard and soft tissue management
Education:
- participating in training and education courses such as the ITI education weeks or similar
- participating in research projects and related activities
- attending symposia such as ITI congresses or other scientific conferences and similar
The Scholar’s time will be allocated to the following activities as follows (estimate):
- 80% patient care
- 10% research
- 10% academic activities
Special requirements for this Scholarship Center
Language requirements: International applicants must present a TOEFL (score >90) or IELTS (score >6) certificate as proof of proficiency in English for non-native English or non-native Chinese speakers by the beginning of the ITI Scholarship program.
International ITI Scholars must have an internationally recognized dental degree and at least 3-years dental clinical practice. The medical practitioner qualification certificate is also needed to obtain a temporary license to participate in clinical services in our faculty.
