Treatment of Peri-Implant Mucositis at a Zirconia Implant
Recent clinical studies, most with short-to-medium term observation periods, have reported on the favorable clinical performance of zirconia implants in terms of survival rates, clinical, and radiographic outcomes (Roehling and coworkers 2016; Roehling and coworkers 2017; Rodriguez and coworkers 2018; Lorenz and coworkers 2019). Nonetheless, a rather high incidence of peri-implant disease at zirconia implants (39% of implants) was noted throughout a two-year period, highlighting the need for treatment protocols of peri-implant diseases at zirconia implants (Becker and coworkers 2017).
