Digital Implant Planning

A plethora of tools are now available in modern dentistry to assist us in all aspects of work. No where is this more marked than in oral implantology, where a combination of comprehensive diagnostic tools such as cone beam computerised tomography (CBCT) and implant planning software can now allow us 3-dimensional visualisation even before the first incision is made. This discussion intends to delve into the following:

• Key protocols during obtaining required information from intra-oral scans and from CBCT

• Prosthetically-Driven Planning protocols to optimise the final prosthetic outcome in tandem with anatomical considerations

• Discussion of common clinical issues and how to overcome or limit their occurrences

Dr Darren Lee

Dr Darren Lee has been practicing since 2003 and is a Clinical Director of a group Dental Practice. Darren has a keen interest especially in many aspects of digital dentistry. 

A firm believer in constant upgrading, this spurs him on in discovering new methods to providing modern dentistry for everyone - patients, fellow dental professionals and dental team members as well!

 Darren is the current Hon Gen Secretary of the College of General Dental Practitioners Singapore (CGDP) and is an advocate of Continuing Dental Education. 

He is also a Key Opinion Leader for 3Shape and is adept at digital dentistry, having spoken for them on numerous occasions.

 Darren has been using 3Shape Implant Studio for about 7 years since its arrival in Singapore. He uses implant studio for every implant case for planning.

 Darren has used fully guided surgery for numerous systems but primarily for Bicon, Astra, Straumann and Osstem.

 Darren advocates digital implant planning irregardless of whether you end up using a fully guided system or not.
