The use of Laser-Sintered Chrome Cobalt Partial dentures for implants.

·         Aims

o  To Provide a basic level of knowledge about how modern Additive Manufacturing (AM) Processes can be used in the production of Removable Partial Chrome Cobalt Dentures using Industry 3D metal printing (laser-sintering)

o  To outline how a dental 3D intra-oral scanner such as the iTero can be used to either directly or indirectly produce a digital model suitable for the fabrication of a laser sintered chrome framework

·         Objectives

o  To Create a renewed updated interest in an age-old treatment modality using state of the art technology.

o  To outline the facilities available in the UK for the fabrication of laser sintered chrome partials, specifically the Additive Manufacturing AM250 unit from Renishaw Dental Support Division in conjunction with “Production Lab” at Cardiff Dental University Hospital

o  To demonstrate via case examples, that laser-sintered chrome frameworks are at least as predictable and reliable in fit and accuracy as traditional cast chrome frameworks

o  To show that there is a solution to the future decline of the traditional skills associated with chrome partial dentures fabrication by employing modern computer based design skills to produce the removable partial chrome prosthetics of tomorrow
