Provisional Implant Restorations: Managing Soft Tissues Around Dental Implants

Presented by Dr Adam Hamilton

Date: Wednesday 4th August 2021

Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm

Venue: Quest, South Perth Foreshore

CPD: 2 hours

The ability to recreate an ideal peri-implant mucosal architecture to replicate the gingivae of a natural tooth is critical for attaining an aesthetic outcome in implant dentistry. This largely involves correct surgical planning and techniques to compensate for soft and hard tissue loss following tooth extraction. However, soft tissue aesthetics in implant dentistry can also be largely influenced through prosthodontic techniques during the fabrication and design of provisional and definitive implant restorations. This lecture will review the literature and clinical realities on how the restorative dentist can modify soft tissue aesthetics.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the peri-implant soft tissue anatomy
  • Recognize the ideal shape of the restorative emergence profile and its impact on the soft tissue
  • Be familiar with the techniques for fabrication of provisional implant restorations
  • Understand the concepts of prosthetically guided soft tissue healing
