Digital Aspects of Bone Augmentation
The digital world offers us the chance not only to simulate and achieve implant installation along with the prosthetic restoration but also to visualize bone defects and accurately reproduce the missing bone using digital data. As one of the first users of preformed allogenic bone blocks tailored to individual patients, our practice has been able to gather valuable experience over the last five years on the predictability of this augmentation procedure. Using images, videos and animations, the clinical use of allogenic bone blocks produced from CAD/CAM data will be presented. The focus is on the workflow and surgical techniques as well as the presentation of clinical cases and results. The pros and cons, indications as well as the occurrence of complications in regard to this augmentation procedure and how to deal with them will be described.
At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…
- understand the use of CAD CAM Technology for bone augmentation procedures
- learn the digital workflow to obtain customized bone blocks for bone augmentation
- recognize the advantages and disadvantages of CAD CAM bone reconstruction procedures
