Evolution from All on 4 to AUDENTES technique - Is it suitable for everyone?
Dr Janice Kan
“All on 4” treatment is a popular procedure that has seemingly become the “default” treatment in the full arch replacement of missing teeth or an absolute terminal dentition. The initial concept is around 40 years old and has evolved over time to allow for immediate tooth extraction, implant placement and the insertion of a TEMPORARY full arch implant bridge in few days AFTER SURGERY. What about the final chapter – the insertion of a FINAL full arch implant bridge DURING SURGERY? Can we have it all – patients wake up smiling without seeing themselves without teeth? Is it really suitable for everyone?
Dr Janice Kan is a prosthodontist and director of her private specialist group practice, Centre for Prosthodontics, Australia. She was awarded the Wyn Needham Memorial Prize when she received her Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) degree at the University of Western Australia in 2001. After the completion of her RACDS examinations with commendations, she pursued postgraduate training and graduated from her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) degree at the University of Melbourne in 2011.
She is a Past President of The Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists, a fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), Academy of Dentistry International (ADI), International College of Dentists (ICD), a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Prosthodontics) and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia.
She is a guest lecturer for various organisations, such as the ITI, International College of Prosthodontists (ICP) and American College of Prosthodontists (ACP). Her interests are implant biomechanics and complex dental rehabilitation; with publications in Clinical Oral Implants Research and ITI Treatment Guide.
