The School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade has a 68-year-old tradition. The ITI Scholarship Center in Belgrade involves four departments of the School of Dentistry: Oral Surgery Department, Prosthodontic Department, Maxillofacial Surgery Department and Department of Periodontology. For over 21 years the School of Dental Medicine has been involved in every aspect of implant therapy as part of everyday practice. Several implant systems are used at the School of Dental Medicine and about 1000 implants are installed each year. Implants are inserted in three different clinics: oral surgery, periodontology and maxillofacial surgery. ITI Scholars will be involved in every phase of implant therapy, from diagnosis and treatment planning to post-treatment follow-up. This multidisciplinary approach involves patient follow-up through both surgical (Oral Surgery Department, Department of Periodontology) and prosthodontic (Department of Prosthodontics) patient rehabilitation. The assumption is that ITI Scholars will be actively involved in treatment planning, individualized treatment approach discussions, surgery and prosthodontic rehabilitation. ITI Scholars can assist and observe the entire range of implant surgeries with or without GBR and/or sinus grafting. Computer-guided implantology using different types of software is also part of implant treatment.
The majority of suprastructures are made in the Clinic for Prosthetic Dentistry which has its own section for maxillofacial prosthetics and where all kinds of suprastructures and epitheses are made. Scholars will participate in the Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery in every phase of surgical therapy with intraoral and craniofacial implants to retain obturator and facial prostheses. This training includes treatment planning at the Department for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics and assisting during implant surgeries.
