Oxford ITI Study Club: A Dental Hygienists role in Implant Maintenance - Dr Magda Mararu

Background: 

Peri-implant disease is the new normal in a hygienists’ practice and our role in preventing and treating such cases has to be highlighted and reinforced right from 'day one' of treatment planning for implants

Aims: 

  • Dental hygienist’s responsibilities in treating implant patients
  • Clinical and home maintenance
  • What can go wrong and how to minimise the risk

Objectives:

  • Synthesise the set of measures and treatment modalities in the toolkit of the dental hygienist
  • Draw parallels between periodontal disease and peri-implantitis
  • Overview of cases
