Background:
Peri-implant disease is the new normal in a hygienists’ practice and our role in preventing and treating such cases has to be highlighted and reinforced right from 'day one' of treatment planning for implants
Aims:
- Dental hygienist’s responsibilities in treating implant patients
- Clinical and home maintenance
- What can go wrong and how to minimise the risk
Objectives:
- Synthesise the set of measures and treatment modalities in the toolkit of the dental hygienist
- Draw parallels between periodontal disease and peri-implantitis
- Overview of cases
