Bone augmentation with a bone block and guided bone regeneration are the most documented techniques to augment the deficient ridge in the horizontal and vertical dimension. In this 2-day masterclass bone augmentation is discussed from A to Z focusing on biological principles of wound healing, anatomical considerations, intra-oral bone harvesting procedures and the use of biomaterials. Since bone augmentation requires extensive flap advancement, lack of keratinized tissue is a common postoperative finding. Therefore, methods to increase keratinized mucosa will also be thought. Finally, relevant medication is discussed to prepare and support the patient prior to and after surgery. 

The following surgical procedures are theoretically discussed on the first day and fully practiced on the second day:

• Intra-oral bone harvesting of bone particles and a bone block
• Implant placement and simultaneous Guided Bone Regeneration
• Bone augmentation with a bone block
• Sinus lift with or without simultaneous implant placement
• Free gingival graft 

Practical information

• Friday the 30th of August: theoretical part from 13h until 19h in Auberge de Pêcheur 
• Friday the 30th of August: dinner at 19h in Auberge de Pêcheur 
• Saturday 31st of August: practical part on cadavers from 9h until 17h in Anatomy lab UZ Gent (Entrance 23) 
• Subscription fee for the whole course including all coffee breaks, the dinner on Friday evening and the lunch on Saturday: 1200 euro for ITI members, 1500 euro for non-ITI members
