Tissue Level Implants in the Esthetic Zone – Prosthetic Solutions and Surgical Perspective: the Myth and Reality (Part II)
Congress Lecture
Surgical Planning and Procedures
Horizontal or lateral ridge augmentation is defined as any bone augmentation procedure of the alveolar ridge in the horizontal dimension. It can be performed using a block graft, particulate grafts, or guided bone regeneration (GBR) procedures. A subgroup of horizontal augmentation is contour augmentation, in which the augmentation is performed simultaneously with implant placement in the esthetic zone to ensure long-term favorable esthetics and function. The presenter clearly demonstrates the indications for horizontal ridge augmentation, followed by the choice of surgical techniques and biomaterials that assist in achieving high predictability and low complication rates. The lecture concludes with long-term results and clinical recommendations.
