Bone Augmentation Procedures – Tips and Tricks

This lecture deals with different types of bone defects and discusses how those defects might be reconstructed. Indications for use of bone substitutes and different types of barrier membranes are also presented. Particular attention is paid to the reconstruction of extrabony defects by means of the bone split technique, sandwich osteoplasty or use of block grafts. Application of custom-fabricated CAD/CAM mesh and different types of incisions and flaps for bone reconstruction are also presented. Finally, the most common complications in bone reconstruction and their etiology are discussed.
