Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) with a Particulated Autologous Graft and a ePTFE-Reinforced Membrane for Vertical Augmentation of a Single-Tooth Edentulous Space in the Esthetic Zone

Paolo Casentini

A 47-year-old Caucasian woman with a single-tooth edentulous space at the site of the left maxillary canine was referred for treatment. She had undergone traumatic extraction of this impacted canine several months before referral. Her chief complaint was the dissatisfying appearance of her smile. The patient desired a stable and esthetic rehabilitation of the site. Her dental history showed no evidence of periodontal disease or bruxism. She had no systemic diseases, was not taking any medications, and did not smoke. The extraoral examination revealed a high lip line and an inadequate soft-tissue volume at the defective canine site. Large black triangles were visible between the canine and its adjacent teeth.

  • * General SAC assessment modifiers that are also part of the ERA. To avoid redundancy they are listed in this section even if no complete ERA has been made.

  • ** Not applicable to the ERA of immediate placement cases and replaced by "Socket Integrity" listed below under "Surgical SAC Classification". For all other placement types this value is a classification determinant and listed here even if no complete ERA has been made.
