About the Scholarship Center

About the Scholarship Center

The Complutense University of Madrid (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) is a public university located in Madrid and is one of the oldest universities in the world (1200s). The university enrolls over 86,000 students each year and consistently ranks as one of the top universities in Spain.

The Department of Periodontology provides periodontal postgraduate studies and active research. The postgraduate studies center around the Master of Periodontology, a 3-year, full-time program accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology for training specialists in periodontology and implant therapy. The research is centered around the Research Group ETEP (etiology and therapy of periodontal diseases). This group owns 6 basic research laboratories and is composed of more than 12 post-doc researchers and more than 10 PhD students. Among the different research lines, we have active lines in tissue regeneration, biofilm formation and clinical trials in periodontal and implant surgical interventions.

The University of Santiago de Compostela (Universidad de Santiago de Compostela) is a public university with more than five centuries of tradition and is a historic institution that projects itself to the future and beyond its frontiers, always attentive to the different demands of society, where it stands as an important academic reference and where it develops its academic and research work. Centuries of history give the university a special capacity to merge experience, security and confidence with present and future challenges.

The Unit of Periodontology houses periodontal postgraduate students and active research. The postgraduate studies are divided into two options for our students. The Master of Periodontology is a 3-year full time program to train specialists in periodontology and implant therapy. We also have a continuing education program in perio-implant dentistry consisting of 7 modules (12 hours per module on Fridays and Saturdays during the year). The research is centered around the OMEQUI group (Odontología MEdico QUIrurgica/surgical and medical dentistry).
