About the Scholarship Center

Established in 2016, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) serves as Dubai’s academic gateway to excellence in medical and health professions education, research, and innovation. In 2021, Dubai Health was established as the Emirate’s first integrated academic health system. Since then, MBRU has led the learning and discovery missions of Dubai Health, positioning the University at the heart of a unified academic and clinical ecosystem.

The International Team for Implantology (ITI) Scholarship at MBRU is hosted within the Department of Periodontology. A cornerstone of the Department’s academic model is its long-standing and strategic relationship with the ITI. As an ITI Campus, the department embeds ITI educational principles within postgraduate training, ensuring residents are exposed to evidence-based implant dentistry, critical thinking, and contemporary clinical decision-making. Our postgraduate students actively participate in ITI educational activities, including study clubs, symposia, and international congresses, fostering early engagement with the global implant community.

The Department of Periodontology at MBRU is also home to several ITI-supported clinical research initiatives. Notably, we are a participating center in an ITI-supported multicenter clinical trial conducted in collaboration with the University of Otago in New Zealand. This partnership highlights our commitment to clinically relevant research, international collaboration, and contributions to the global evidence base in periodontology and implant dentistry.
In parallel, the department maintains a strong academic collaboration with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). Our postgraduate program conducts conjoint examinations with RACDS at the completion of the three-year training period, ensuring rigorous external benchmarking and alignment with internationally recognized standards of specialist competence.

Through these strategic partnerships, the Department of Periodontology at MBRU offers a globally connected, research-driven training environment that prepares graduates for leadership in clinical practice, education, and research.
