Call for Speakers

The ITI needs you: calling the next generation of speakers!

Seize the opportunity to speak at the largest implant dentistry event in 2020. We are seeking talented speakers for the under-40s breakout sessions.

The theme for our upcoming World Symposium 2020 is set and the focus is on the patient:

Evidence and Trends for Patient-Centered Solutions: The Challenge of Choice

The approach we are taking will bring the patient to the plenum as the main player in the implant-dentistry treatment process. Speakers will consider different, innovative approaches to framing presentations from the point of view of the patient. This will be done in many ways: using videos, audio recordings, video scripts that can be read out, asking a patient/actor to attend physically or electronically, patient diary, and more.

If you are 40 years old or under at the time of the Symposium and have patient-centered wisdom to share, send us your abstract!

This is what you need to do:

Step 1: Submitted abstract for the young breakout sessions by January 31, 2019.
Your abstract may have a maximum of 500 words and must be structured as follows:

Clinical presentations

1. Clinical problem/issue/topic
2. Clinical evidence
3. Management/technique/solution
4. Outcomes

Research presentations

1. Objectives
2. Methods
3. Results
4. Conclusion

Abstracts are evaluated according to the criteria below:

  • Goals, hypothesis, & background
  • Innovative quotient
  • Methodology
  • Results & conclusions

Step 2:

If your abstract is selected, you will be asked to send a short and creative video pitch* to the ITI. The ITI will then assess the video pitch in terms of presentation skills and upload it to online voting portal. If the video pitch does not pass the assessment, the presenter will be informed.

The ITI will inform you by February 28, 2019 whether your abstract has been selected. Once you have been informed, you will have a whole month to upload your video to the online voting portal.

The online voting portal will be open to the public from April 1 until July 1, 2019. The sooner you send the ITI your video pitch, the more likes it can collect on the portal. The number of likes will count towards selection for presentation. The Scientific Program Committee will take the likes, presentation skills as well as scientific merit into consideration when making the final choice.

*Preparing your video pitch

The overall video should be between 1 and 2 minutes maximum – the shorter the better. You do not need to repeat your abstract, just give a short summary of your topic. Your enthusiasm needs to come across to the viewer, who needs to understand and get excited about the subject you are presenting. In terms of camera quality, it does not need to be a super professional video – your smartphone recording will be perfect.

Step 3: Spread the word: tell as many people as you can to vote for you. The pitches with the most likes have a good chance of being selected for presentation on stage in Singapore.

Step 4: In August 2019 you will find out if you have been selected.

Breakout session speakers will also receive a hotel and travel stipend.

Step 5: You will give a 15-minute presentation at the ITI World Symposium 2020.

Please note that apart from the overall winner with the most likes, the final selection for the Young Breakout Session will be made by the Scientific Program Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Suitability of the topic within the framework of the overall program
  • Regional diversity
  • Presentation skills
  • Number of likes
