The ITI Scholarship at the University Clinic of Dentistry in Vienna is based in the fields of oral biology and oral surgery. Scholars benefit from a comprehensive interdisciplinary training environment and have access to experts from various disciplines in cell biology and implant research. This includes, in particular, the clinical division of oral surgery with a focus on oral surgery, stomatology, and implantology.

Activities during the Scholarship year
Independent clinical treatment is not permitted.
Scholars may also observe clinical treatments and live surgeries conducted by the Division Chair, senior faculty members, and postgraduate students. The ITI Scholar has the opportunity to attend courses organized by the participating departments. The institution offers a wide range of lectures in these disciplines, enabling the scholar to actively engage in both teaching and learning activities.
Implant dentistry experience is not mandatory; however, prior clinical and preclinical research experience is preferred, along with a strong motivation to engage in and pursue research activities.
ITI Scholars are actively involved in scientific work, particularly within the Cell Biology Laboratory of Oral Biology, where they can learn how to perform in vitro analyses, getting an insight in new technologies. The Karl Donath Laboratory further provides extensive opportunities for learning, processing, and analyzing hard tissue samples.
During the scholarship year, the Scholar's time will be allocated to the activities below as follows (estimate)
German is the official language in Austria. However, proficiency in German is not required for this position, as English serves as the common language of scientific communication. Therefore, a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
We strongly advise you to consider cost of living (housing/rent, food, transportation, etc.) in the city of this ITI Scholarship Center, as certain destinations can be very expensive. It is essential to understand that the ITI scholarship stipend does not cover all living expenses but only contributes to these. Therefore, make sure you are fully aware of the cost of living in the city of this Scholarship Center if you consider applying for it. You must be prepared to co-finance the cost of living out of your own pocket. The ITI cannot provide additional funding during the scholarship year.
