In general patients with the need for fixed tooth- and implant- borne reconstructions are treated at the Division of Fixed Prosthodontics and Biomaterials. The treatments encompass the clinical concept of the Division, including most recent digital technology and new dental materials. The clinical spectrum encompasses treatment planning and diagnostics in close interaction with the dental technicians, the placement of implants, and the subsequent rehabilitation of patients by means of tooth- and implant-borne restorations.
Observing patient treatment: The ITI scholars receive a profound theoretical and clinical education in the clinical concepts of the University of Geneva. In weekly treatment planning seminars, the step-by-step approach is being trained.
Assisting in patient treatment: The ITI scholars have the possibility to participate and assist in the clinical treatments of the Division chair, the senior faculty as well as the post-graduate students. Close interactions between the Divisions of Fixed Prosthodontics and Biomaterials, Removable Prosthodontics and Geriodontology, Operative Dentistry, Periodontology and Oral Surgery enable the ITI scholars in Geneva to join the interdisciplinary patient care and to learn how to approach complex clinical situations. Furthermore, the interaction between the prosthodontists and orthodontists is specifically trained in regular interdisciplinary case planning seminars with the Division of Orthodontics.
