Die Klinik deckt das gesamte Spektrum der Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie ab, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der orthognathen Chirurgie, der Kiefergelenkchirurgie, der chirurgischen Behandlung von OSA, der Traumatologie, der plastisch-rekonstruktiven Chirurgie, kraniofazialen Fehlbildungen, der Onkologie und Tumorchirurgie, der oralen Implantologie sowie der \u00e4sthetischen Chirurgie liegt.\r\n\r\nDie Abteilung bietet verschiedene Spezialsprechstunden f\u00fcr Patienten mit Erkrankungen im Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtsbereich an, darunter eine f\u00fcr Patienten mit seltenen Erkrankungen. Zahlreiche chirurgische Eingriffe werden station\u00e4r und ambulant durchgef\u00fchrt. Das medizinische Personal ist bestrebt, eine Patientenversorgung auf h\u00f6chstem Niveau zu gew\u00e4hrleisten. Das Team spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der abteilungs\u00fcbergreifenden Zusammenarbeit, zu der die Kieferorthop\u00e4die, die Prothetik, die Parodontologie und die konservierende Zahnheilkunde, die Neurochirurgie, die HNO-Heilkunde, die Augenheilkunde, die orthop\u00e4dische Chirurgie, die Pathologie, die Humangenetik sowie die Unfall- und Notfallchirurgie geh\u00f6ren. Neben dem ITI-Programm bieten wir auch ein Stipendienprogramm der International Bone Research Association (IBRA) an.\r\n\r\nDer Schwerpunkt der Grundlagenforschung liegt auf der regenerativen Medizin im Mund- und Kieferbereich mit einem Fokus auf der Gef\u00e4\u00dfbiologie oraler Strukturen. Die VABOS-Forschungsgruppe der Abteilung ist ein international renommiertes Team, das auf den Gebieten der Gef\u00e4\u00dfpathologie, Bildgebung, zellul\u00e4ren und molekularen Geweberegeneration sowie der therapeutischen Angiogenese t\u00e4tig ist. Das interdisziplin\u00e4re Team besteht aus \u00c4rzten, Molekularbiologen, Biologen und Physikern. Die Forschung erfolgt in enger Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Instituten der Universit\u00e4t M\u00fcnster sowie mit nationalen und internationalen Arbeitsgruppen, die auf diesem Gebiet t\u00e4tig sind.
