About the Scholarship Center
The ITI Scholarship at Charité – University Medicine Berlin is based in the Department of Prosthodontics, Geriatric Dentistry, and Craniomandibular Disorders. As one of Europe’s largest university hospitals, Charité provides a stimulating academic and clinical environment that integrates state-of-the-art patient care, teaching, and research.
Under the mentorship of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Florian Beuer, MME, department chair and internationally recognized expert in prosthodontics and implant dentistry, Scholars will actively participate in patient treatment. Working under supervision, they will contribute to all aspects of prosthetic and implant therapy, with a special focus on digital workflows and esthetic rehabilitation.
The program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration with specialists in oral surgery, periodontology, and other related disciplines, offering Scholars a comprehensive perspective on oral rehabilitation and patient-centered care. Exposure to pioneering research in fields such as material science and digital innovation provides valuable opportunities for academic and scientific advancement.
In addition to hands-on clinical training, Scholars will engage in structured educational activities, including seminars, literature reviews, and collaborative case discussions. This dual focus on practice and theory ensures a balanced and profound learning experience.
Applicants with strong backgrounds in reconstructive dentistry are encouraged to apply, as this foundation enables deeper engagement with the department’s demanding clinical and academic program.
By joining the Charité ITI Scholarship Center, Scholars will gain advanced clinical expertise, build international academic networks, and prepare for leadership in prosthodontics and implant dentistry.

Activities during the Scholarship Year
The Scholar should apply for the residence permit under § 21 of the German Residence Act (AufenthG), which is intended for self-employed individuals, freelancers, and those working independently as scientists or researchers.
To treat patients, the scholar must be able to communicate with them in their language. Due to Berlin’s international environment, patients who speak languages other than German (e.g., Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, etc.) may also be seen. If the scholar does not speak German, the amount of clinical activity may be reduced and substituted with research and teaching activities.
The Scholar will be fully integrated into routine clinical practice, engaging in all stages from treatment planning to surgical and prosthetic execution. The Scholar will be exposed to straightforward, advanced and complex rehabilitative cases involving single and multiple implants. Special emphasis will be placed on the implementation of digital technologies.
The Scholar will be involved in ongoing laboratory-based experiments. Particular emphasis will be placed on the implementation and critical evaluation of digital workflows, including the use of intraoral and extraoral scanning technologies, as well as additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing.
In addition, the Scholar will collaborate within an interdisciplinary research environment to support the translation of preclinical findings into clinically applicable strategies. The Scholar will also have the opportunity to initiate independent research projects.
During the scholarship year, the Scholar’s time will be allocated to the activities below as follows (estimate)
For research and didactic purposes, proficiency in English is required, while for clinical activities, proficiency in German is required. Language skills in German higher than basic are an advantage for clinical activities.
The Scholar will have the opportunity to participate in local ITI Study Clubs, the ITI Annual General Meeting, ITI German Section Meeting, and follow the ITI Curriculum to deepen their knowledge and professional development. Additionally, the Scholar will have the opportunity to visit other ITI Scholarship Centers in Germany.
