Management of White and Pink Esthetics

Vincent Fehmer

This lecture presents a series of full-arch clinical cases that illustrate the advantages, disadvantages, and long-term clinical survival rates of various materials used to restore pink and white esthetics. The cases are presented in a logical progression from composite-veneered metal-based reconstructions to all-ceramic prostheses that combine milling and veneering. This presentation is also an insight into the management of complications such as chipping and fracture using methods such as the intraoral repair of zirconia-based fixed dental prostheses (FDPs). Conservative ways to alter esthetic outcomes as well as new materials and methods that minimize the risk of chipping are described. The lecture concludes with a summary based on case studies.

At the end of this Congress Lecture you should be able to…

  • discuss the long-term survival rates of materials used to restore pink and white esthetics
  • describe the management of complications such as chipping
  • explain the advantages and disadvantages of new materials and manufacturing techniques
