ITI Congress Southern Africa: Dentistry of things

Two weeks ago, the ITI Congress Southern Africa took place in Cape Town. Under the umbrella topic “Dentistry of things” an internationally renowned faculty guided the audience through the three-day scientific program. Participants from more than 18 countries made this congress one of the largest international dental implantology congresses in South Africa.

“We aimed to represent most of the implant specialties during the congress by inviting a diverse faculty. Our four international speakers Dean Morton (prosthodontist), Waldemar Polido (maxillofacial and oral surgeon), Stephen Chen (periodontist) and Vincent Fehmer (Master Dental Technician) allowed us to reach specific target groups within our audience. At the same time, we brought together all the clinicians under the umbrella of the ITI”, said Christiaan Vorster, ITI Education Delegate.

The overall aim was to digitalize the congress workflow as much as possible: QR codes leading to polling questions were presented during the lectures, the poster competition was presented on LED TV screens and even the exhibitors provided additional information about their products and services via QR codes.

The congress participants appreciated the smooth organization as well as the talented speakers, the outstanding lecture content and diverse learning opportunities during the event. All in all, the congress was very well received by its audience.
