Indication 3 Case 5

Distal extension situation maxilla

Prof. Daniel Buser
University of Berne, Clinic for Oral Surgery

Presurgical status with two missing premolars in the left maxilla.

The radiograph demonstrates the edentulous space with a reduced vertical bone hight due to the extension of the maxillary sinus.

The intrasurgical status shows both implant recipient sites following preparation of the implant beds.

Status following placement of two ITI solid screw implants (S 4.1) with an SLA surface, and insertion of 3 mm extension healing caps.

Wound closure was achieved following precise adaptation of both wound margins and suturing with interrupted sutures.

Clinical status 6 weeks following implant placement demonstrates excellent soft tissue healing around both implants.

Radiograph at 6 weeks: Both implants, a 12 mm and an 8mm ITI solid screw demonstrate normal periimplant bone structures.

Status following insertion of two solid abutments. Both implants are now ready for functional load with a cemented provisional prosthesis.

Periapical radiograph following abutment insertion.

An impression is taken with low-expensive snap-on transfer copings.

Funtional load is initiated 6 weeks (!) following implant placement with a cemented provisional suprastructure.

Periapical radiograph indicating excellent crestal bone levels.
