Department of Oral Function, Section of Oral Implantology and Prosthetic Dentistry
The ITI scholarship program is a joint venture between the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the VU Hospital and the section Oral Implantology and Prosthetic Dentistry of the ACTA. Both institutes have been involved in implant dentistry for over 20 years. In the VU hospital the more compromised patients are treated. At ACTA the implantology section treats all patients in which more complex pre-implant surgery is not indicated.
The Section Oral impantology has a 3-year post graduate program in Oral Implantology in which dentists are trained in all surgical and prosthetic aspects of this field.
Scholarship program comprises the following aspects:
| • | access to all weekly literature seminars and reviews |
| • | access to patient consultations |
| • | access the weekly patient treatment planning/discuss ions |
| • | access to continuing education programs organized by the department |
| • | participation in ongoing research projects |
| • | participation in surgical and prosthetic treatment of patients by direct observation and assistance. |
Authorization for the independent treatment of implant patients will depend on the professional and personal competencies of the individual scholar. This will be assessed during the program.
The Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam is a joint faculty of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Free University (VU).
