With 21 dentists from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, the first ITI Curriculum got off to an excellent start at the Harbor Club in Hamburg, Germany.
The ITI Curriculum is a one-year course offered by the German ITI Section to the German-speaking implant dentistry community and primarily aimed at postgraduate students and non-specialized dentists. It consists of nine modules and two job shadowing placements offering participants a solid basis from which to apply for approval of a professional focus on implantology that is granted by German Dental Chambers to dentists practicing in Germany.
The first module, directed by PD Dr. Kai-Hendrik Bormann and Dr. Matthias Müller, focused on "The Basics of Implantology" and included lectures on the history of implantology, biological and anatomical basics of implantology, different implant materials and systems and implant prosthetics. An introduction to the ITI Online Academy and the SAC Assessment Tool combined with practical exercises rounded off the varied program. "Participants were particularly impressed by the practice-oriented approach of the first module," said Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wahl, member of the ITI Curriculum's advisory board.
The ITI Curriculum 2015/2016 is completely sold out. The dates for the second ITI Curriculum starting towards the end of 2016 will soon be published at www.iti-curriculum.org. In the future, the ITI will roll out similar formats in other Sections.
