First ITI Congress Chile: A successful start into a promising future

More than 300 implant dentistry professionals gathered in Santiago de Chile on October 23 for the first ITI Congress Chile. During the one-day congress held at the Universidad Los Andes participants had plenty of opportunity to benefit from a well-balanced program, ask questions and meet colleagues.

Focusing on the “Scientific basis for clinical success”, the scientific program offered lectures on topics as diverse as guided bone regeneration, short and narrow implants and guided surgery. They were covered by a strong faculty made up of national and international speakers such as German Gallucci, Waldemar Polido, Martha Theodorou, Alejandro Lanis, Osvaldo Moraguez and Edgar Berg. “The feedback we got from participants was fantastic”, said Chilean Fellow Rene Ocaranza, member of the Scientific Program Committee. “Not only did they enjoy the lively discussions during the breaks, but they especially appreciated the international spirit of the event with high-quality lectures held by renowned practitioners from all over the world.” Apart from providing a scientifically attractive program, one of the main aims of the congress was to spread the philosophy of the ITI and promote its scientific activities among Chilean practitioners. “I am proud to see that we succeeded in this” commented Edgar Berg, Chair of the Scientific Program Committee. “We are working hard on establishing a new ITI Section in Chile and hope to have attracted many new Chilean ITI Members with our congress.”

The diverse scientific program was complemented by a presentation of the ITI and its e-learning platform, the ITI Online Academy, an extensive industry exhibition as well as a poster competition. From the 38 submitted posters, the Scientific Program Committee selected 30 for presentation. The three best contributions won a prize. The first prize was a free trip to and registration for the ITI Education Week Boston 2016, sponsored by Straumann.
